They are on the schedule in 2010, so the relationship is already there.
 
oh crap....another team called the Bulldogs. First UGA...then Fresno St...next year Miss St, UGA, now SCState. arrgh!

Seriously...

SCState was 7-4 last year and 7-2 in conference after losing by one point to national champion Delaware 17-16 and by 7 pts to Norfolk State 20-13. Their two non-conf. losses were South Carolina 38-3 and Air Force 34-3.
 
Money Knox, they need the money to grow the program. Now in 3 or 4 years they might not have too but that is a big paycheck for them.
 
I guess they're trying to build up their bank accounts & then reinvest it into their program...plus facing that level of competition it should make them better prepared to face their conference....win/win. Although, if they get demoralized or injuried then the plan backfires....
 
SC State would be a good choice. I've been screaming to get a HBCU here for YEARS. There is a large alumni base and a chance to sell LOTS and LOTS of tickets. Who knows maybe some of those guys will stick around or revisit.

I think Doug Stewart is a SCState alum. We'd get good radio play for the game also.

If this is true, another great move by DRad.

Can't we just make a contribution? Jacksonville St is bad enough for the schedule; trying to give a helping hand and all.

South Carolina State. You gotta be kidding me. I've had it with the scrimmages on the schedule so we can qualify for an "above .500" bowl. I want to play real football.

I'm tired of pussytising the schedule. I want red meat! Schedule Purdue. We still owe them!

It does not pay to play a harder schedule when in a BCS conference...just win your conference. We already play UGA OOC which will be Top three. We also have Miss. St which will be Top 25 pre-season.

Look at LSU...they lost 2 conf. games to unranked opponents...they played OOC games against Tulane, LaTech, and Middle Tenn. St....and still played in the Natl Champ game!
 
Accoding to the school website, they announced their schedule on Jan 4 for this year. We're not on it.

We need wins with our schedule next year and a new coach.

SCState will sell lots of tickets. Not ND tickets, but they will sell good. I'll bet they bring their band and it will be a good show for our "Cupcake" Schedule.

We should play a HBCU every year. We would fill the stands with their alumni and fans of the bands. Great idea to sell seats.
 
S.C.State on GEORGIA TECH'S schedule is a ditch.

For you Rats its BAD. Very BAD.

Not only that, but heaven forbid we end up with an injured starter. Or worse, they pull off an Appalacian State! :wow:
 
Also, we already have DI-AA Jacksonville St. on the schedule. We won't add another DI-AA team.

I'd be a lot more interested in their band than someone of the Big Boi genre, if we are talking halftime shows.
 
You can't blame the AD no matter who ends up filling that game. There are very few teams remaining that have open dates matching ours even with some juggling.

Tulane might could be an option.
