Is there no limit to the PC police???

Mark my words:

Georgia Tech will have to censor or change it's fight songs within the next ten years, due to political correctness.

I think it will be back within a few years...notice how the ncaa tried to ban it a few years ago...but 2 years later it was back...i see the budweiser being banned before our fight songs

No, of course there isn't any limit to the PC police. Is this a trick question?

After Zell's attempt was blocked and the Olympics came and went, nobody ever thought it would happen. Barnes even campaigned in 98 on not changing the flag (I have him on video saying so). Lo and behold, wham! New state flag overnight, without anyone's input. That's what will happen with our fight songs.

Political correctness has a way of taking its time to bring about change, even if the first attempts are thwarted.

Our fight songs are just a matter of time...

thank God that the War is finally over, and the Battle Flag can take a rest and let peace rule the world...

Is not the music to "Rammer Jammer" based on "Rock & Roll Pt. 2"? If so, that was the song by gary what is his name who was convicted not only of child pornography, but also with sadism and torture being inflicted on the children. I might bee mistaken, but if not then I think every school should ban that music. IMHO.

If I read that correctly - the band can't support the song officially.

It's real hard to stop a bunch of drunk fans from doing whatever the hell they want without the band.

Even if that's not what it said - i would go with that unless my team started getting penalties for it or something.

It's always better to ask for forgiveness than permission.

<font size="2" face="Arial, Verdana, Sans-Serif">Yep. Just wait until Political Correctness takes something you care about, be it a flag, a song, or something else.

Remember we have opened several Liberal programs at Ma Tech and with the posture of the Professors who teach rather than work in the real world this could be an issue real soon. The whole PC issue started in the colleges by those who do not want to offend a few but do not mind making many mad.

Long live "To Hell With Georgia"

Good comic relief, fellas! I love when we do satires of paranoia on StinGTalk. The Great Demon "Political Correctness"!

That's a good one!

I shout, "To hell with Georgia" proudly each time I sing the fight song. The day will never come when someone will cry enough to make it go away. The people who are giving big money to the school are the ones who will decide whether it stays or goes. Money talks and since I don't have much I don't get to say much. The people with the money will decide exactly how long we get to sing "To Hell with Georgia" along with the band. As for me I will sing it till they roll me around in the Yellow casket.

I guess at this point we need to move this to Off Topic.

Okay Belly, I'll bite: What about what's being done at Alabama isn't the PC Police?

<font size="2" face="Arial, Verdana, Sans-Serif">Oh,it's PC, I suppose. But also reacting to it so strongly, negatively, and unreflectively is simply being "PC" from a different political point of view.

There's is a "redneck" PC response to the "everybody has feelings" PC view. Both kinds of PC strike me as funny.

I thought the topic was about the Panama City Police!

Best wishes to those of you making the trip this weekend! First time since we began playing there in the early 90's that I can't make the trip! (Month old son will do that to you!)

Drive safely and bring home a 'W'!!!

Seems to me it should depend on how the song is received and/or how fans react. What is the song they played at MD games for years? The students in a number of cases got extremely rowdy towards visiting fans and teams and led to several fights. In that case I can see banning a song if it lends itself to that kind of activity. But if they just sing it or whatever, then I don't get it. It's kind of like the old "na na na na, hey, hey, hey goodbye" chants when somebody fouls out.

Thanks 2BT! Between the Avatar and Panama City reference, I know it's going to be a GREAT weekend!

Go Jackets!
