b/c that is where they are?

hmmm not sure if they are or aren't. Right now....though..they are playing like they could be.

It still amazes me they are playing as good as they are on offense with an essentially freshman OL and freshman RB, soph QB. GREAT coaching job.

Anyway...this is for discussion. Who is the best 2 loss team in the country if its not UGA?

USC, VT, Texas? Maybe Oregon now if dixon is healthy...I would say oregon in that event.

NO! Georgia simply lost early and moved up because of other folks ahead of them losing. Remember this is still the same team that laid a big fat egg at Tennessee. But for some style points in the second half and Tennessee basically running on every play, Georgia would've lost by 40 plus. Georgia also almost lost to Vandy. So they beat a one armed Tebow; big deal! I think USC is probably the best two loss team. They're loaded with young talent in a conference that was a little better this year than usual.

right now today...USC or UGA but after Saturday my opinion might change.

Injuries change everything. What would UGA look like with their QB?

I assume the rankings (BCS) after tomorrow will be...

1. LSU
2. Kansas
3. OU
4. WVU
5. Missouri
6. OSU
7. ASU
8. UGAg

I think that is accurate for now but maybe UGAg will have two injuries on the OL tomorrow. It's all so fluid these days. 12-14 games schedules and the size and speed of the players make injuries so important and thus coaching even more important. UGA has a great college coach.

Taking a look at all two-loss teams in this weeks poll and what they've done since their last loss:

UGA: W- AU and UF
VT: W- FSU, GT
USC: W- Org St, Cal
Texas: W- Iowa St, Baylor, Nebraska, Okl St, Tex Tech
UVA: WF, Miami
Clemson: Maryland, Duke, WF
BC: L- FSU, Maryland
Cincinnati: W- S Fla, UConn
UConn: L- Cin

I'd say UGA deserves to be the highest ranked two-loss team as much as anyone else. Clemson and USC are also playing pretty well. Texas has won five in a row but their defense has had some problems.

Over the years UGA seems to really benefit in the polls when they do achieve the big win from the week before --this year jumping ten and nine spots in the AP and USA polls respectively after defeating UF.

For now they look like the best 2 loss team for maybe the exception of Clemson (excellent running game, best QB in the ACC including Mr. Ryan, good D, still coached by Tommy Bowden) and USC (Booty injured all year, breaking new skilled position players). The other BCS 2 loss teams and their main flaws according to me are:

BC: loss to FSU, Ryan's a bit down.

VT: erratic QB play, no running game, always good for a win or two extra a year (which inflates their record) because of special teams.

UVA: winning on very thin margins, loss to Wyoming

Texas: LB's play horribly and Jamal Charles in the 4th quarter vs Nebraska and Ok St is the only reason they are only a 2 loss team.

Oregon: Injured QB which causes the offensive packages to be severely scaled back and bad secondary.

UConn: Have not seen them all year

Cincy: Lot of smoke and mirrors beause of turnover margin.

So the mutts are the best 2 loss team in the country, let's hope they're not after playing UK tomorrow.

Hard to tell how they would fare with VT or USC, we dont really know if the SEC is a tough conference or not. It could very well be that the SEC is made up of several good teams and no great team.

Georgia lost 2 games pretty early and has improved substantially since then. College football is dynamic, always changing from one week to the next. I've always been skeptical of Coach Richt's abilities, but even I can admit that his teams always improve from September to November.

so yes they're the best 2-loss team in the country, depending on Dennis Dixon's knee injury.

Bah..Humbug!

Get your head out of the sand!

What UGA did early in the season has absolutely nothing to do with how good they are NOW.

They are a VERY young team......but loaded with some of the best talent in the country.

Therefore, they SHOULD be doing exactly what they are doing......getting better with every game.

They have outstanding young talent in every area of the game.......and leading them is a young QB who will soon be in the NFL......ditto for the RB Moreno.

This team will be competing for the National Championship next year.

Refusing to face REALITY does not help our cause at all.

Having seen UGA play Auburn in person, they are rolling right now. I do think at this point they are the best two loss team and they would beat USC if they played today. Much as I hate to say it, I think they are better than VT as well. They would definitely beat a Dixon-less Oregon.

One thing I'll say about Richt, they may be sluggish in Sept. or Oct. games from time to time, but he has his teams ready and hitting their stride in November usually. It's going to be tough to beat them, but it can be done.

Oregon > UGA

oregon today would be a 7 pt underdog or more to uga.

they have lost more to injuries than any school in the country.

You did see what they lost last night right?

i would think preseaon top 5 next year is sure to include:

USC
OSU
UGA
UF

Maybe Texas will be 5th. Next year UGAG is very loaded especially on offense. But they have a very tough schedule next year. i think they play at LSU, at AZ. state, at Auburn, at SoCar, vs. FL in Jax. have TN, Bama, GT, etc at home.

i don't think they can go undefeated with that schedule. But they won't lose more than 2 imo.

Ask Troy if they think so! UT would also laugh at such a notion.

I respectfully disagree with some of you. I did a little research and here's what I found. They played Tennessee on October 6th and experienced the worst beatdown they've had in years. The next week they almost lose to Vandy. Two weeks ago they played Troy (who's actually pretty good) and came close to losing. Troy had 488 yards of total offense and 23 first downs. Lastly, Georgia is right in the middle of the SEC in just about every statistical category. I guess we'll see how good they are this weekend and when they play us. They do seem to have a problem with athletic quarterbacks. Don't we have one of those?

If Dixon is out for the year (and it seems like he will be), then Oregon is screwed on offense. Leaf looked lost back there and then he got hurt.

The train is coming off the tracks for the Ducks. If they drop another game they won't even make a BCS bowl.

Here's to making them the best 3 loss team in the country!!!!

Heck, they are no better than East Texas Baptist.
