when other team fanbases are so delusional (like UNC).

After UNC score at the 11:33 mark of the 1st quarter -for the next 40 minutes of the game - that's right 40 minutes of the game!!! - UNC did nothing on offense (ran 28 plays for 94 yards, 5 1st downs - never got close to scoring, etc...) then Jones muffed the punt with just over a minute to go in the 3rd qarter (do the math - that's 40 minutes!!!).

Granted - UNC took advantage of the miscue - I think our defense got deflated, too - but give UNC credit for marching the ball into the endzone - 30 yards or so.

Yet, somehow, so many UNC poster on their forums just look at the final score and it was a "blow-out" by UNC. Any other interpretation is just blasphemy.

Why must chronic, brain-damage be so rampant on planet earth?

No one is suggestion TECH was the better team or should have won, etc... but we were very banged up and UNC had 2 weeks to prepare - and yet we were right there late in the third quarter - clearly outplaying UNC after their first TD drive.

Even though the previous paragraph is 100% irrefutably, correct - many UNC fans would suggest otherwise. The only way you could even remotely think otherwise is if you have chronic brain damage.

They whooped our asses, get over it. Fumbles are part of the game. We gladly took the win against FSU on a fumble.

I hate the heels too but when you get beat 28-7 and the 7 being on a busted run play for 70 yards, we got our asses handed to us. The long run play was just as much a fluke as were the fumbles. Statistacally we fumble more than we break long TD runs...

Mr. Truth is moreso correct, imo.

We had something going there late in the 3rd....we were down by 7.

You cannot possibly say this game was like Tech beating Samford 28-7 in the 2004 home opener.

Not even close, bud.

True that we are our own worst enemy more than UNC "beat" us, but we were down 21-0 in the 4th quarter. Get over man. We still have 2 huge games left to redeem ourselves with.

This has nothing to do with me "getting over it" - I am merely stating that I intensely despise human beings that only look at the final score and that is all that matters.

I am sure Butch Davis knows otherwise - and, if he doesn't, he is bad coach.

Many writers do the same thing - it is the "easy way out", I guess.

You don't have to manufacture a silly reason like this to hate UNC fans. Just hate them because they're UNC fans, and have always been worthless, whether it was after this game or a decade ago.

Do you think we blew out DUKE? It was the same type game.

Overall, I'm not sure about this stat.

We scored a total of 23 rushing TD's this seasn. Maybe 1/3 of them are of 25 yards or longer...

On the other side, we have 17 fumbles lost this season...

So overall, I am pretty sure about that stat...

Including the UNC game, we have 9 rushing TDs of 20 yards or more. We also have 22 rushing plays of 20 yards or more where we did not score.

If a "big" run is qualified as one where we score, then you are correct. If a "big run" is a long run where we move the chains, surprise their defense, or otherwise gain momentum on offense, then I'm sorry but I don't think the stats support you.

-edit: I just saw your original post again and realized that I didn't see you specifically said "long TD runs" - sorry for misinterpreting. I do have to maintain that we break the big run more than we fumble, though, which I think was beej's point.

I was saying tha long TD runs are more rare than our fumbles and so if we're going to try to say a fumble is a fluke thing then we also have to say that an 80 yard touchdown run is a fluke...

Basically I am saying that people need to quit using fumbles as an excause for us losing or as a reason for why the game was "closer than the scoreboard indicated." That's a total BS statement. The scoreboard is the most important stat and we got our butts kicked...

Maybe puppies will make you feel better...
