Maybe I'm an idiot and maybe I know nothing about football, and maybe I'm "drinking the kool-ade" (anybody else getting sick of that expression?), but here's how I feel:

(1) The UVA game sucked and pissed me off. Another game lost in part because of turnovers and some bad officiating. Ruined my day. Of course, I've also had a lot of days saved by turnovers and bad officiating. Mr. Sanks knows what I'm talking about. This is just the life of a football fan. I love it. It's why I keep coming back year after year.

(2) Even in our two heartbreaking losses we had excellent chances to win the game. Losses suck, but this means a lot to me. Last year we lost four games by 12 points or more. Last year versus BC and VT, we gave up looooonnnng before the final whistle blew, and at home. We're not doing those things this year.

(3) Georgia Tech will probably go to a bowl game but will probably not win the ACC in Coach Johnson's first year. If your expectations about this season were higher than that, you were destined for disappointment from the get-go.

(4) Alabama is having a great year. Undefeated, controlling their SEC and NC destiny. Have already beaten the festering snot out of UGA. Well, to those of you who give Nick Saban any credit for this, remember that Nick Saban went 7-6 last year with losses to Mississippi State and Louisiana-Monroe.

(5) Be thankful that we are blessed with four more awesome challenges this season. FSU, North Carolina, Miami and Georgia. It would be great to go to a bowl game for all the obvious reasons, especially the extra practice. But when it comes to games worth getting pumped up about, we have four games in a row which are going to be more exciting and more fun and more meaningful than any bowl game we have been to since the 2000 Peach Bowl. Bowl game? Hell, welcome to the Georgia Tech 2008 Bowl Series.

(6) Despite my excitement about these four games and despite my belief that we could win any of them, we will probably not win all of them. If that is your expectation, please prepare yourself well for disappointment. That way, if we lose one of them by a touchdown or less, you won't make an embarassing knee-jerk post which trashes our own coaches and players for no sound reason. I'll be damned proud if we win any of them.

(7) It is a damned exciting time to be a Georgia Tech football fan. And if the present doesn't always thrill you, take a little glimpse into the future because it looks pretty good to me.

Well, I have teed it up nicely for those who like to be negative. Go ahead. Rip this post a new one. It should be pretty easy for you. I'll be getting ready for the FSU game.

A++ best post since the UVA game i completely agree with everything you said! our fans need to stop hating and just start having faith in our boys! it was only the SECOND loss!

Can I have some?

Just kidding. The truth tends to be hard to take sometimes. This team is better than most of the teams we've played this year, so its easy to get overhyped and start talking about running the table and ACCCG, etc. In reality, we're probably not a top 25 team. Too many weaknesses: poor offensive line, too many turnovers, and too much inexperience in the defensive secondary. Even the best teams in the country would lose 1 or 2 with our schedule, so 6-2 is pretty respectable. We have youth on our side, but it was not realistic to think the new offense and defense would gel in the first year under CPJ. I think its time to look at each game down the stretch as an opportunity to knock off a good team, and we'll see where we come out. Most importantly, we throw out the records and try to bring the bulldogs to their knees on Nov.29! Go Tech!

Good post. I was hoping for an ACC championship and a beatdown of the dawgs but we need to be rational. They're still possible but not probable. Still this team can accomplish a lot more than all the experts felt possible at the beginning of the year. But it will be very tough to get to 8 wins and unless the O line play improves and we quit turning the ball over we may not win anymore. Plenty to work on but no reason to despair.
