I've been wondering for years why everyone doesn't line drive their punts

Any reason not to do this every punt?
cpj talked about it the post game.

We just switched to all out rush, so you no longer get the chance at a fumble, and you give up the yards on a shorter punt, seems like something to simply do as a surprise every so often

You could actually make it a read by the punter, do it when they line up two blockers on the gunners and are clearly trying to set up a return

I thought there was a rule about this but searched the rule book last night and found nothing on point.

You cede yards due to a lack of hang time if the receiving team field it cleanly.
The way our defense has played over the last 10 years, I'll gladly cede yards for a chance at a turnover.

That said, Harvin is so good we don't even need that right now.

No hang time, it could hit a player running downfield in the back, and I don’t see how it would be possible to consistently pin a ball in the 0-10 yard line.

Is there roughing the punter if he runs outside the tackle box?

And lord please can we somehow get someone that can kickoff through the back of the endzone? We have lost a game this season because of that and it contributed to additional losses. We need someone that can boom a kickoff. There has to be a former high school soccer player , or international student, on our campus, on academic scholarship, with a booming leg that wants the addition of a preferred walk on status. Nothing but kicking out of the endzone. Your only job. You will never have to tackle or be in on a play because he will only be kicking out of the back of the endzone.

As for FG kicking, Wesley Wells is the man. His short FG's and XP's are ded nuts center.

If I were an NFL team, I'd draft PH3

I was impressed with Wells also. "Ded nuts center" is my new go-to phrase, and I agree.
