What's up with all the guys from Pennsylvania? It looks like we are definitely moving away from the State of Georgia this year. My only concern with that is that the non-Georgia kids don't typically understand the importance of the UGA-GT game.

Here's my uneducated take - we probably have a lot more information on the GA recruits so we already have offers out there for the ones the meet the athletic and academic requirements.

By the way, I would take a full roster of players like Mike Cox (from PA) - we can teach 'em to hate UGA.

1) The coaches do not agree that the players that are "top rated" in Georgia are as good as last year. The top will always get publicity...but that does not mean they are as good.

2) The top talent players in GA that are also interested in taking a look at GT are not as academically prepared as last year (i.e. Josh Jarboe). The trifecta (GT talent, GT interest, GT academic preparation) player like Claytor, Donley, White, Roddy Jones, etc. is not as prevalent as last year.

Plus....we need 25-27...not 19...so we have to put out a much larger net.

We have to be careful with these next two classes as they will impact the graduation rate...thus leading to lost scholarships if they do not make it. For instance, we made an exception to get Taalib Tucker over Ohio State and Oklahoma....yet he struggled. He worked hard at it...and is a fine young man. He will land somewhere and do a great job. Unfortunately though, he counts against us even though he left on his own.

I don't think our being UGay's whipping boy has anything to do with where our players come from.

T.J. Pridmore is the son of ex falcon great Tom Pridmore. Don't know how much we are in the mix with him. Anyone know?

Not as much of an impact as you would think...particularly since we outrecruited them last year.

too early to tell...we just offered him. I am sure one of the services will have an interview with him soon.

Mustang GT,
I sure do appreciate what you are doing here. You're more valuable than a pocket full of pencils, and that's "All Write"

you kick ass mustang!!!! thanks for the heads up. and the first guy 6'6 330!:wow:

How does anyone know we outrecruited them last year? I thought our montra was "We will not know for three or four years".

According to this we didn't...

Not that that means anything.

And according to this we did.

I would say these rankings show some of the bias present in these services. The busy SEC boards tend to be on Rivals while the busy ACC boards tend to be on Scout. Somebody on the Hive did a study of this and it does appear that the number of subscribers influences where they put each team.

That's interesting. Never really thought about it that way.

What about THIS kid that the ajc identified?

Georgia Tech:
Keith Wells, DE, Gainesville. Jackets were the early favorites and will continue to be a big factor despite offers from Miami and Florida.

What are our chances with him?

We still lead for him...but he now has offers from Ohio State, Florida, Miami, Alabama, Auburn, North Carolina, and South Carolina. Academics, being close to home...and the Nic Claytor factor should pull us through.

Likely GT commits:
Nick McRae (C-GA)
Keith Wells (DE-GA)
Matt Roark (QB/ATH-GA)
Omoregie Uzzi (OL/DL-GA)
Steven Sylvester (LB-GA)

Would not be surprised to see:
Ralph Bolden (CB-GA)
J.B. Fitzgerald (LB-NJ)
Michael Via (OL-NC)
Cooper Taylor (FS-GA)

There will be a lot of new information coming in the next few weeks.
