Jared Edwards to Baylor **

are we still fighting the Baylors and Dukes for recruits?

pay attention... :-) (jk)

he actually committed to Iowa State many months ago and just recently reopened his recruitment.

This was an important DL recruit for us...and we did not expect this at all. He gave GT a '10' on his visit and decided to do an obligatory trip to Baylor near his hometown before making it official.

He decided to "change his commitment" from GT to Baylor after deciding it would be great to be near home.

This one was a shock.

Correct and hard to swallow, but that is where Georgia Tech is right now. A mediocre history for the past 8 or nine years---since these recruits were second graders---a mysterious new and unproven coach with a quirky system, a difficult (if not impossible) curriculum, and seven straight losses to the really good state university in our state. Why would anyone chose to go to Georgia Tech? We offer nothing over and above the Dukes and Baylors of the football world. Nada.

Wait a minute. Aren't you the guy who posted on bbuzzoff that "GT is de-emphasizing football by hiring Paul Johnson"? We are de-emphaszing the program because we fired the old coach and decided to pay the full $4 million buyout on top of pay our new coach 70% more than his predecessor. Genius. You lost your right to be taken seriously by anyone.

You may have missed this thread...

Well, you sure seem like a great person to be around.

Seriously, why are you still following Tech athletics if we're so doomed for failure?

Darn ...

... Hate to see that. I would've liked to see what he could do at GT. He seems like the kind that could gain 20 lbs and be an A.Oliver or gain 35 lbs and be a Joe Anoai. But, if we leave the door open, he could get the itch for the Jackets come signing day. I hope we give him at least one or two more nudges.

All we need to do is keep repeating:

Waco...Atlanta
Waco...Atlanta
Waco...Atlanta
...

There is nothing like the thrill of parking in the mud and then walking through it to Floyd Casey stadium at Baylor. Compare that with BDS@GF and there is no comparison at all. Then the after game thrill of being in an old run-down area versus being in Hotlanta. No comparison what so ever.

Well he made a dumb choice.

If one more person mentions the guy we stole from Duke as a minus, I'm going to punch them in the teeth. The guy we stole from Duke was TIED FOR THE FASTEST FORTY TIME AMONG ALL CB RECRUITS THIS YEAR, AND IS NEARLY 6 FEET TALL.

Well at least Jared will be close to his lovely HS girlfriend, who just wanted to have him that much nearer to Metairie, and his roots, and the "things that really matter in life". Besides that, everybody down there "knows about what goes on in Atlanta".

Please Note: The Preceding Is Intended Sarcasm (for the benefit of the subtlety challenged among us)

Yukontech,
Are You a Tech Fan? Doesn't sound like it. There are plenty of reasons why a young man would want to come to the flats.

I'm excited about what Coach Johnson is doing and it sounds like a whole bunch of other folks are happy too.

Not to mention a parade all American.
