Jason Semore leaving to become DC at Marshall

That’s too bad (for us). Coach Key gushed about him.
 
Not sure if it's 100% done deal yet, but as of last night, KQ says no. Semore isn't even supposedly interviewing until tomorrow (Thursday).

 
Hopefully we can keep him, however being a DC at Marshall is a great next step!

Yeah it's sounding more and more like a done deal. I imagine the "in-person interview" is mainly just to handle all the formalities, sign agreements, etc. before making an official announcement.
 
I trust Key to find a good replacement. Semore is definitely on the rise. GT Analyst to Valdosta State DC to GT position coach to Marshall DC.
 
I would like him to stay, but he'd be nuts to do so (unless Key has promised him something if things go south on defense this year...).

If things go south on defense and he shows well at Marshall, I’m sure he could come back. That’s probably his best path to P5 DC.
 
Key talked about how he wants the program to be a place where they’re not only coaching kids but they’re coaching coaches too and those coaches want to grow and move on to higher jobs. So best of luck to Semore. I hope he gets what he wants.
