Just gave props to Paul Johnson for ' Coach of the Year'
National attention is always good!
Way to go Coach!

Jim Rome has been pretty much in favor of Johnson all year, not one of the recent bandwagon passengers. Not that I resent bandwagon passengers on the Paul Johnson train, there's plenty of room for the time being.

Rome and Paul Johnson seem to be a lot alike to me, except that Paul Johnson would probably knock the **** out of Chris Everett.

Don't you mean Chris Evert? I don't really like Rome but that whole thing was funny. And probably staged.

Jim Rome's an asshole. I'd rather have him not talk about us.

Everybody has one of these stories, but I actually met Jim Rome a couple of years ago in the Crown Room at LAX. First impression - he is more vertically challenged than I expected. Second impression - he is a pretty friendly dude, and was more than willing to just sit and rap sports for a while as we both waited on flights. He was with a small posse, but he didn't put on any front to try to impress them or be bigger than he is. We had a decent conversation about March Madness as it was starting that day.

I came away thinking that his show(s) were just that - shows. He seemed like a decent sort, who knows how to sell himself on radio and TV.

Just my two cents, but I'm glad he is on the bandwagon - all press is good press in this situation!

GO JACKETS!!

He means Jim Everett. I've heard some say it was staged and others say it wasn't. I really don't know.

I think he was when he was younger....but now he is actually a heck of a radio show guy (much better than tv).

He is a sports traditionalist and purist....and expects accountability...not an excuses guy.

He also admits when he is wrong.

I find myself agreeing with his takes 99% of the time.

I like Rome well enough on his TV show, and his radio show is okay when its just him talking, but his whole call in format is just annoying. Its like these people rehearse their schtick all morning to give a monologue and then hang up.

while he's not my favorite I think Rome is one of the best out there. He calls a spade a spade and doesn't back down and as Hivered said when he's wrong he admits it.
