John,
The nomination is in. Have seen you play at all levels. Grew up in Rabun County. Watched us and you guys finish 1-2 in sub-region in 1982. We get beat by East Hall and you guys take out Oconee County. You and Mack Burroughs had some classic confrontations. Anyhow, you got what it takes to instill the attitude and toughness that is needed. What do you say? Maybe even bring Big John Ivemeyer back to help.

I concur.

When mistakes are made, they need to be corrected quickly.

R-mover should be an excellent correction.

Does he want to coach/recruit? I think we can do better than someone who has never coached but if he wanted to I am sure he could succeed.

I was not going to address this issue, but I have had a change of heart. Since John is my brother, I realize this will be somewhat biased, but what the heck. John may get mad but he loves me so he will get over it.

Here it goes........
I believe John would be a great addition to the coaching staff for many reasons that I will state here. He and I have had this discussion many times in the past as recently as last Thursday night at the Maryland game when we handed Fat Ralph his arse.

1. John would bring over 20 years of playing experience to the table. Everything from pop warner ball to the NFL.

2. He has played EVERY offensive line position.

3. He was fortunate to play in 4 Super Bowls.(was hurt in one of them, but was a reason why Buffalo got there.)

4. All American player at the collegiate level.

5. Recruiting I think would be a strong asset for our program. If you were a parent, how would you like someone sitting in your living room that has these kinds of credentials. To be able and sit there and talk with a person like John who has played at every level possible. If he so chose, which he wouldn't i am sure, he could wear the 4 AFC championship rings that he has in his possession. That would be AWESOME!!! Now one thing I can tell you about John is that he would sugar coat nothing to a recruit, but would be dead honest on every issue. But to have someone sit there who played at GT would be a tremendous asset IMHO and have the experience he has.

6. The offensive lineman would have an opportunity to be coached by an individual who has played the position and knows what he is talking about. Another great asset IMHO.

This is biased but true to fact I believe.

Mover...Im wondering...Could John serve as a GA for a couple of years??? I know that most College Head Coaches might be reluctant to hire him fulltime without any previous college coaching experience.(Not saying that is important but just might be an issue) .A lot of Coaches get started as GA's..I dont know..It is just a thought...

I like our staff but Big John is the Man! CPJ should hire him.

RM-2,
I gotta go with you on this one. I have a feeling that somewhere along the way, you taught him exactly how to start a game off on the first play from scrimmage. (hehehehe) especially against No Dame.
I second this nomination.

Offensive line coach? NO!

It’s a little known fact that Mr. Davis only played on the offensive line because that is where the needs of his various teams lay. Where he would really like to coach, where his true passion really has always been, is at punter. During his days with the Buffalo Bills, he would often make the long drive to New York City to take in a Rockettes show. He would day dream about high kicking his way to glory the entire drive home. But Marc Levy would never give him the chance. Instead, he would be forced to slave away in the trenches.

So let’s all get together and support our next great special teams coach, refrigeratorpouchkicker.

Wow, who stole MOF2's password?

Just wondering if there is a reason that a thread from 2003 is being posted in again?

What happened to our current line coaches?

I'm sure JD would do an excellent job.

And he would probably have to stopping posting on this board so that would be a plus. :fingersx:

Kyle is a level 80 threadomancer. Apparently, EE courses have been dumbed down to the point where one can browse through six year old posts and not have to worry about studying.
