John Elway Got A Job

So how many quarterbacks in that region do you think will be transferring to Cherry Creek HS?

His son Jack is the quarterback at Cherry Creek (number 7, of course), so that's why he took the job. There was a big write up in the Denver Post this morning about it. Even in retirement, he still makes headlines in Denver. I've seen him before at a Broncos game, and he is very cordial and respectful to all the fans, shaking hands and flashing that horsey grin. He's a class act.

That's funny, my dad and sister went to an NFL event a couple of years ago and their impression was that Elway was half in the bag and an ass. In fact, their comment was that Marino kept apologizing for his behavior. They had nothing but nice things to say about Marino, Clemens, and several of the other stars who attended.

He was not respectful at all to anyone at the Masters about 5 years ago. Nobody even talked to him - a guy nudged his buddy (silently) and pointed at Elway, like, "look who that is" - nobody said a single word to him, but when the guy looked over at him, Elway stormed off making this mad wife sound as if he was bothered by being noticed - while not actually being bothered.

The Masters is a different environment. That's one of the places that people actually really did not want to talk to him. They are there to see different big names and aren't the type of people would bother a guy like Elway. Worth noticing - sure, but not worth approaching.

Elway turned it into a spectacle - probably because it wouldn't have been one if he hadn't.

The guy is a grade A ass for many reasons, but that's one I saw from 10 feet away.

It was all I could do not to yell, " HEY LOOK! It's Jim Kelly!"
