What are the chances we lose Coach Tenuta to the spot being vacated by John L. Smith?

There is an article over on the GT Sports Blog about it. Tried to link it but for some reason it won't let me right now. Makes it sound like Coach Tenuta is their leading candidate.

actually it says that Marucci is the TOP CANDIDATE. I will be surprised if Tenuta gets a high profile job like that.

Van Gorder (who won the Boyles award) was lucky to get GA Southern job and he may not keep it for very long.

Van Gorder's #'s were superior to Tenuta (but w/ more talent).

While I think Tenuta would be a solid Head Coach, I think we are at least a FEW years away.

I think we are safe on this one. They are looking for a mid-west/big 10 guy.

Law Bee- It does seem Mariucci is the no 1.

Some people believe Michigan State already tried to make a strong run for Butch Davis, but CarolinaBlue.com reported Friday that Davis, 54, has reached an agreement with North Carolina.
With his team off this week, Cincinnati coach Mark Dantonio, a former MSU assistant, was spotted Friday night sitting on the Flint Carman-Ainsworth side of the field for a playoff game at Milford.
Dantonio, 50, was the Spartans' secondary coach for six years, including five under Nick Saban. Dantonio also was Ohio State's defensive coordinator during the 2002 national championship season. An Ohio native, his Midwest ties could be valuable for MSU's recruiting. This guy should be taken seriously in this search.
As for Steve Mariucci, it was interesting Izzo didn't completely write it off as he has other times when his good buddy's name came up. But Mariucci, currently out of the country, still is believed to be on the verge of moving back to California, not to East Lansing as rumors have suggested. He still is owed $6 million in 2007 by the Lions.
There also was crazy talk Saban, now the Miami Dolphins' coach, could return to East Lansing. ProFootballTalk.com made it sound like a real possibility, but that's not going to happen.
Cleveland Plain Dealer columnist Roger Brown wrote Friday that Todd Grantham, the Browns' defensive coordinator, will become the "No. 1 candidate" provided Mariucci doesn't want the job. Grantham, 40, was MSU's defensive-line coach under Saban from 1996-98. Grantham is in his eighth NFL season.
One of the more intriguing candidates is former Michigan quarterback Jim Harbaugh, 41, who is the coach at Division I-AA San Diego. He played 15 seasons in the NFL. His father, Jack, coached for 41 years. Harbaugh's brother-in-law is former MSU assistant basketball coach Tom Crean.
Who better to know how to beat the Wolverines than a Wolverine, right? Bizarre, but crazier things have happened.

I don't think that UNC wants Tenuta.

If Miami fires Coker, I think that they will want someone higher profile than Tenuta.

The more I think about it the more likely I think Amato will survive this season.

Groh will definitely survive this season.

I don't think that Tenuta is one of MSU's top choices, but I do think that this is the most likely HC job that Tenuta could get.

Don't be surprised if O'leary gets a look here either.

I would be really surprized if they would seriously consider a coach with a record of 2-7 from a mid major conference.

The only real possibility for Tenuta after this season is MSU. He's going to be really attractive to them because he can also bring the former recruiting coordinator at Ohio State with him.

Here's to hoping they get Mariucci or English (UM DC) first.
