Jordan Yates

Had a couple of good runs and the one TD pass in the first half. Otherwise, slow going. Archer's defense has been all over him.

Looked like he was getting in a rhythm late in the half. He keeps plays alive. Nice throw for the TD to end the half.

Yates looked better than his stat line to me. Archer seemed better top to bottom but he found a way to make it happen. Ran the option smoothly (from shotgun), not shy about contact, fast. Couple of really good throws on the run. Also had a couple of unnecessary back foot throws. Lots of potential, IMO.

I hate the shotgun option on short yardage plays. Milton blew a 4th and short and a 4th and goal by not getting their QB under center.

Yes lots of upside to Yates with the potential to be really good at GT. I don't like the short yardage option from the gun either. The only time it worked was when he faked the handoff and bounced outside the defensive ends pinching down.

I’ve seen a bunch of teams, HS and College, that couldn’t close out a game because of this. “Offense not built for short yardage”! :)

Great athlete obviously but footwork when throwing the ball needs a lot of work.
I've seen him play plenty of times and he generally has good footwork and a nice arm. Archer has a lot of D1 talent on defense, especially in the secondary and on the defensive line. He had a lot of pressure in his face all game and receivers that weren't open.

Last year Archer only gave us 20 points twice and had 4 shutouts despite playing a very tough schedule and making it to the state quarterfinals in 7A.
