Josh Nesbitt

JoeCokeEater: I hope they're right with their 'best guess'. Caution though: I see that I am not the only one unconvinced that his future at this level is at quarterback. So we shouldn't put all our eggs in this basket even if we do get him.

From what I have read and heard I still like Matt Lentz over in South Carolina. I hope to see some good video of him soon as I have some on the way courtesy of a Greenville area football coach (and Tech fan!)who has played against him the last two years.

We absolutely must pick up a big time quarterback this year. I don't care who it is but they better be a big time qb or our program could be in trouble for quite a few years (we still could have one already of course).

I know virtually nothing about the kid except that next to his name there are *****. Which it is said that we shouldn't put too much stock into star ratings, but considering that Calvin was the only other 5 star I can remember recently, I would have to say that I would be very excited to get another one whether he ends up at safety or QB...but hopefully, because of the importance of the position, he commits to Tech and can become our version of a Vince Young, DJ Shockley, or Marcus Vick(w/o the character issues) type player.

There are two QB's we are going after at this point, to my knowledge. They are Josh Nesbitt and Steven Threet. We like both.

We had also offered John Brantley (TX commit), Mike Paulus (NC commit), and Willy Korn (Clemson commit)...but none of them ever really looked at us.

Just guessing

but if GT signs young Mr Nesbitt he'll step into doing many of the same things young Mr Ball is doing right now. If what Tech has on campus right now can't give Reggie Ball much competition, I don't think they'll be able to give Josh Nesbitt too much competition either. Just a thought.

Re: Just guessing

I think Bennett is the starter next year no matter what. The coaches had to have decided, after giving him most of the spring snaps that he was the one they want to start to groom. Nesbitt will have a very difficult time unseating Bennett, unless he comes in and shows the ability to throw the football better than Mr. Ball. If he really is the real deal, he may split time a la Vince Young his Frosh year.

Re: Just guessing

Bennett is Gaileys choice cause he is stuck up his butt!! Ask the players and they will tell you that. Most players believe Garner should be the starter once he gets his full chance.

Re: Just guessing

Whether he's up someone's butt or not doesnt matter. He has outperformed Garner so far on the practice field. The fact that he spends a lot of time in the film room only shows his dedication to his job.

Re: Just guessing

No Offense to Garner, but from what I've seen and read...He and Manley are at least a year behind Bennet from a development standpoint. Garner was the higher ranked player coming out of high school, but They Ain't in High School anymore.

Re: CakeEater..I agree

After spring practise and the last scrimmage, I don't see how anyone can say that Bennett is not ahead of Garner.

Re: CakeEater..I agree

I just made the statement because I know for a fact that most of the players will not be behind Taylor because of his attitude and the way he carries himself. Not the kind of leader you want right? Someone the players dont see as a leader who can rally the troops? The funny thing was who these comments came from, 2 members of the first team offensive line.
