Anyone care to guess on how the Steven Threet commitment will effect the recruiting of Josh Nesbitt?

Personally, I think our staff will continue to approach Nesbitt's recruitment the same way they have so far....while emphasing to Nesbitt the challenge of competetion that Threet and himself would bring to the quarterback position.

I hope so, but that street runs both ways. All athletes, young and old understand that competition to play will always be a part of it. However, I wouldn't blame any QB recruit with multiple offers for wanting some security.

As we know, once a starter is chosen it takes a crowbar to dislodge him. Once the season starts, the #1 guy gets the heavy majority of practice reps with the first unit. That's not just at Tech either.
It's a good problem to have I suppose.

If a QB is afraid of competition, that not a good sign because that is not the mentality you want in a QB.

But yes...we are still recruiting Nesbitt as he could play multiple spots if QB did not work out. He is the only other QB on "the board".

Also, anyone who thinks one recruiting season makes up their competition they are sadly mistaken. There are typically 4 or 5 "generations" of QB recruits in each program that all were "the man" the year they were recruited.

Great problem for Tech to have.

btw...the Michigan coaches were blown away by Threet at the Michigan camp a week ago where he was neck and neck with Ryan Mallett the entire time.

Everyone will be surprised to find out he is mobile enough plus has the arm...plus had the mechanics...plus has the confidence/demeanor of a leader...and a 4.0 GPA/27 ACT (i.e. Godsey smarts).

I tried to indicate this sentiment and was not talking about a kid that will shy away from competition.
It does happen over and over where very good quarterbacks can get caught up in the shuffle of several potential variables.
That list is too long, and you know or can recall more than I could.
I am not saying that all QB recruits are jumpy about the situation they will be entering, but we all know that Michigan, for instance will not let Threet go unaware of the other QBs that Tech has offered and has commitments from. This is all hypothetical of course, but the DJ Shockley story is nothing new.

With Threet still a high school junior enjoying his summer vacation, there is a long way to go and he will be recruited harder than ever. That's just the way it is.

I really want this kid and I am sure Tech will stay front and center with him!
