And I have to say, the whole VT experience was fairly misrepresented to me. I had a blast and it was a great time, their fans, who I had been told were pretty harsh/jerks, but outside of a few smartasses they were good folks. Couple of old men bought me a pitcher of beer in the Hokie House (I recommend the heart stopper, but man, that was a lot of burger). People remind me a lot of Clemson folks.
Lane Stadium, I guess I didn't get the full effect with it being an afternoon game instead of a night game. Pregame was good, didn't know they had such a big history of ROTC stuff, interesting fact that the only schools with more medal of honor receipients are the academies. The crowd definitely got quiet pretty quick, theres few things better than hearing the silence of opposing fans.
Watching the game on my tivo now to see the up close stuff. Great weekend. If any of you make the trip in the future I highly recomend getting a hotel around Wake Forest, makes for about 5 hours of driving each day if you go up Friday evening, very managable.
The boys played hard, and looks like we're finally in the process of turning that corner thats been alluding us for hte last couple of years. Campus is pretty nice, expected a little more from their tailgaters, but I guess its so spread out that theres not a hugh concentration anywhere.
All in all a fantastic experience, and I love that we're in the drivers seat for the division right now, 2 big tests left with Clemson/Miami, and games to not overlook with Marlyand and the Carolina schools, but this could be a very good year with the way things are shaping up. Go TECH!
