Depending on the calls for his hide, bricks through windows, et al, Chan could possibly decide to earn his keep somewhere else. He's a valued coaching commodity at just about everywhere else besides GT. I see a man with enough character to stick with a tough assignment though. Chan will not quit. Remember his infamous devotion to the Dolphins. You folks that are dreaming of Spurrier and Stoops are pathetic.

for the sake of argument, let's assume Chan is fired at the end of the season should we have miserable year...Clemson's coach, too. We'd both be two ACC schools competing for a new coach.

IF that happened, wouldn't it make sense to do something just prior to the season ending? We'd have a headstart on a new coach and it'd give him time to pick up the pieces for recruiting.

If Chan and company beat a Top 10 undefeated team on the road, do you give him a lifetime contract?

One game up or down doesn't determine much in the way of the future.

I am a big believer that you pick the right guy and get out of his way - come hell or highwater. Personally, I think giving CG anything less than 3 years is just assinine talk.

All in one idiots opinion, of course

normally, I would agree with you, but this program has sputtered on and off the field since Gailey got here. We're not headed upward and the fan base in general feels that way, too. Recruiting, a program's lifeblood, is going to be severely impacted, I'm afraid.

Actually it's sputtered on and off the field since the year before Gailey got here. George's last year was all sputter and the offseason was just as bad with resumegate. It didn't start with Chan.

Oh yeah, what was I thinking.

In fact, I hear it's Chan's fault that we lost the semifinals to UNLV in '90. He's also made the pass interference call for Ugag in '97

Hey, I know, lets keep bumping this thread for a couple of years and, if we are in a similar position as we are in now, this thread will have some relevance.

NO! However as I posted before, if we get pasted by Tater Tot's Bro, it will speak volumes about where our program is headed...EVEN AFTER ACCOUNTING FOR ALL OF THE EXCUSES MENTIONED AD NAUSEUM. Now in spite of the margarita induced shouting, I think as I posted before, we stand a good chance of turning things around against CU. Also, not writing off AU! fsu on the other hand is a scary proposition. They take this sport as serious as we SHOULD/COULD if we would come off of our high browed academic pedastal. THWG

ccujacket,

Once you have posted a few more opines, your fellow posters will have a better feel where you’re coming from.

The subtleties of my wry (rye) sense of humor is still lost on some here; not an ideal enviroment for subtleties...

As the philosopher Bellyseries once said, "I reached for satire and found only sarcasm."
