How does ncst qb Rivers support his own family while attending school and playing football, or any of the other 'family men' playing amateur sports?

Bought stock in "Chuck Amato Fashionwear Sunglasses"

And now SAT minimums have been removed as an admission qualifer.

Hmm, no admit hurdle, got a family to support - can 'formal' pay for college athletes be far off?

Just like the pros, cripes! Or is it already that way?

Kinda takes something out of the idealized image of our college players - "well gotta go home to the ol' lady and rugrats", old before their time.

goldtoof, if the athletes begin to get paid, you can kiss college athletics out the window, it will balloon and totally ruin what we know today as ncaa athletics. i pray that never happens. leave the damn college athletics as is, it is the only true entertainment in sports we have. not like the nfl or nba where it is all money, gold chains, earrings and me,me,me,me.

Hell, I agree Toe, that's just the point. Playas with families was unheard of not that long ago, makes you wonder about the real state of affairs though.

I think it's simple. She probably works and their parents help support them. He gets housing, don't know how it works if you live off campus (I assume he does, maybe he's in married student housing?). To tell you the truth, I'd much rather pay basic living expenses for my 18 year old than out of state tuition.

It does make you wonder, but surely it has been investigated since Rivers is a hot commodity on the sporting news.

Toe meets leather, I agree, I will give up following college football if the players are ever paid. I have seen one figure thrown about estimating their college benefit at about $40,000 per year. That is more than enough payment.

I quit watching pro sports years ago.

I can think of several Tech players thru the years who have been married, with children. No biggie.

There is a recent book by a former Awbern player "exposing" the hypocrisy of coaches in Jags and he and his wife eating peanut butter sandwiches etc.
