From what I understand, the walk-on Freshman has officially won the KO duties. Hope to see some considerable improvement from the coverage team.

Who saw Blair's kickoffs at the Scrimmage last weekend? The boy has a serious leg. He was consistently kicking the ball 2-3 yards deep, from the 30, and with some good air under them.

Speaking of Kickers:

* Durant Brooks punted the ball 3 times for an average of 50+ yards .

* Travis Bell also looked sharp: 3-3 FG (35, 27, 19)

Thought the kickoff coverage looked REAL GOOD this past scrimmage.

I'm excited for Scott and the team. He wasn't consistent at first. Let's hope he continues building on what he did during camp. The guy has a serious leg.

We haven't played a game yet, but our kicking game is looking strong!

Can find the new "tentative" depth chart at.....

Listing Scott on first team at KO. Some other interesting things in the depth chart as well.

Based on the measurables from that depth chart, I take it Andrew Gardner's new nickname is "Stumpy"?

:>)

What about Andrew Smith? Has he been on the Calista Flockhart diet over the summer?

That's the main concern for the kid. From what I hear, he kicked a few out of bounds. Of course, with last years stats, out of bounds puts us right at our average. Lets just hope he doesn't get too nervous playing in front of such a big crowd for his first game.

Gotta love him hitting the endzone from the 30!!

well... you can rest assured that ND's kickers won't be knocking them into the endzone.

however, i think i'd rather kick it out of bounds than kick it to armando allen

How many has he taken to the house? What is his return average?

Until he proves he's the next Devin Hester, I think we'll take our chances.

Unless I'm misremembering, we took our chances with Devin Hester too, and contained him fairly well.

i think our KR's did a pretty decent job of keeping away from your entire ST unit last year =)

That basically tells nothing about your kick returners. We were DEAD LAST in Division I-A in kick return coverage last season. The good kick return teams took one to the house on our wretched coverage.
