Does anyone know if Ken Whisenhunt still supports GT football and whether or not he could potentially be interested in being our coach someday? (probably in the distant future as he will likely coach the Steelers or Falcons next season...)

Perhaps five years ago, but I doubt it now. In fairness, and I wanted him hired last go-around, but perhaps he wasn't ready then. He seems to have too many opportunities in the NFL now, especially in Pittsburgh where Cowher has stepped down, to consider GT.

Maybe one day when he is finished with the NFL. NFL money is still better than college money (except for Alabama I guess). I expect him to stay in Pittsburgh FWIW as opposed to Atlanta or Arizona.

After a few years in the NFL if he gets chased and when Chan steps down, it might be something he'd consider. Regardless, I am sure he will get a call next time we have an opening.

True, though as a first-time head coach, with only two years as the OC - though he has certainly proven his ability in those two years - I doubt he'll get the big money in his first contract. A big-time college program could probably afford him now, but maybe not after he proves himself in the NFL as a head coach. Unless, of course, you're talking Alabama, who apparently has more money that the NFL.

I read where somone had run into Ken at a golf charity event (in the last year) and said to him, "We'd love for to to come back to Tech and be our coach someday". And Ken said, "I would too".

I believe his father-in-law is a big booster or is well connected with the GTAA and his in-laws live in Atlanta.

At 15 years in NFL he will get a lifetime pension from NFL...he begins his 11th year with this season coming up.

as information, CG is 2 years away from NFL lifetime pension.
