Folks, I think we are now behind on Scott. If we don't get him then disaster strikes.

He said he really enjoyed his trip to Tennessee and it is now wide open!!!!! His words!!!!

If disaster is going to strike over 1 player, then disaster has already struck.

No matter how good a kid is, 1 player will not determine if we go 11-0 or 2-9. It may have an impact on our psychology, and the recruiting ranking, but if 1 player candetermine success or disaster, then you are already done.

Believe me, I've followed Tech recruiting for some time. Biggest loss I ever lamented? Terin Smith. He was big time, with NFL caliber size/speed/strenght. From the state, interested in GT, played at a position we despeartely needed (DE). Lost him to the dark side after the '97 loss, which was bad enough.

1 player will never make or brake a class. It either stinks, is fine, or is great - all with or without him.

All IMO, of course!

TiarB, please read my post under the topic-according to Insiders Johnson has named- My reply which is the 19th on that thread and my #336. This will tell you exactly why I wrote that.

I think losing Courtney Brown was the biggest recruiting setback involving one player we ever had. He was said to be a "done deal" for us.

One of Scott's highschool coaches is a 'Nole and
seems to think Scott goes to FSU.

I wouldn't worry about UT too much. His comments
after that visit weren't as positive as after he
came to GT.

FSU is our main competition on this guy. It may
come down to who else the 'Noles sign. If they look
deep at DB, then I think we get him.

Still...one player will not make or break this class.

Cracker, I think you may be right on with Scott. My statement, which I made another thread, about getting Scott is full of merit.

I want Kenny Scott more than any kid since Ken Swilling. I truly believe he can make a difference in our program and Chans tenure! Folks I have been following recruiting For Tech for 25 years, and with the current status of the program I feel he would lend us an enormous credibility with where we are headed. For Chan to sign him it would PROVE beyond a shadow of dought that he understands the college game in every verse if you will. Scott would bring more great signings if not this year then certainly next year. It would show that the new academic standards is not as much to worry about. His signing would open a lot of doors and close a lot of dought. He is everything we need and not just be the great player, but also right person at the right time! Kenny we want you badly. I wish you well where ever you go and that it will be right for you. I am just a fan, but truly believe you can make that much of a difference with us!!! Good luck and may you trust in your inner being and spiritual self in making a decision of a life time.

Ramblin, Terin is from Ga. and was a great hi. school player who we thought we were looking good with. Well he signed within the town of dark shadows and I believe will be a redshirt soph. Nevertheless a very good young player.

If he signed after the loss in '97 he should have been a senior this year even with a redshirt year. Must not have been much of an impact player. Another good reason for players to come to Tech, go to UGAg and sit on the pine or come to Tech and play early...

Yes, Terin Smith finished his eligibility at UGA last year (I believe he actually lost 3 out of 4 or 3 out of 5 to Tech).

He was a contributor on DE, was in the 2 deep, but certainly never became the All-American he was projected. (Of course like 5 guys on that D line are in the NFL now).

But of course you don't have "a-priori" knowledge of a prospects actual performance. That is why I mention losing him, which at the time acroding to the recruiting rankings, was a bigger loss than say Dan Morgan from Miami (who actually committed to GT and the De-committed) who became an All-American.

You are right about Courtney Brown - but somehow losing him to PSU (as opposed to UGA) didn't seem to hurt as much

He's already visited F$U. Still has to visit UF and I heard he'll take 2 unofficials (on his dime) to Tech and F$U again.

Subscribe to Insiders recruiting and just read where Kenny Scott still has us his leader with TN 2nd (after his TN visit). He still has to take his trips to FSU and FL.
