We were driving and our QB was out of the game. The coaches had to know that Gibson was going to be limited, but he was moving the team. We drive down into the red zone and find ourselves at 3rd and 1. And we ask a young, inexperienced quarterback to throw a delicate pass to the outside.

I was pissed and still am. It was obvious we desperately needed the touchdown, we had to have bigger points to have any chance. This was a stupid call. RUN THE BALL. Run the QB sneak and surprise them. Have speedy Hall run outside, do something with a higher chance considering the new young QB was thrust into this limelight.

I didn't have a real problem of not going for it on 4th and 1, but if you run it on 3rd and 1, why not make it a two play event. We needed the TD to win.

Yep. We also had 3rd and 2 on our next to last drive and took a sack on an attempted passing play. That after it should be super obvious that passing was a low percentage play. Whoever is playcalling is not good

Hell yeah I’m mad about it

Falling over in the backfield when we needed 2 ööööing yards

Ugh. Long sucks. Zach sucks.

We are all now dumber for having watched that.
it was a regression like I’ve never seen before. It’s incredible how a kid could go from a program where he looks competent to nor being able to move an offense at all.

I’m shocked that’s our #2 QB.

Competent? At Akron? They won three games in the three years he was there, and two of them were Bowling Green. The other was a D3 school I have never heard of, which looks to be the equivalent of beating Berry College.

We’re like 1-for-11 on fade passes inside the 10. Yet we keep calling them on short yardage situations.

And this time with a backup QB on his first real series of the season. Flabbergasting.

I really can't remember I was thinking he was only a backup at Akron, or did I remember it wrong?

Please stop referring to him as "young & inexperienced " he's 24 yrs old & has probably thrown a football 100,000 times in his life. Nor was this his first game played.

We definitely should've run the ball more and will need to from here out, as Gibson doesn't appear to be a good thrower.
BUT, in a 2 min situation, he clearly excels at running OOB & stopping the clock!

I’d like to say that was the right call given the info we had at the time, but no. It wasn’t.

It was clear at the time Gibson needed to be throwing high-percentage passes only. That play call was ridiculous, and we all knew it the second we saw it develop.

Makes me wonder if it's only a coincidence that Tulane is 6-1 this year and having scored under 20 points only once.
