Key\'s to the Game.............

Here are my two keys to the game...........Pretty simple.

Time of Possession (keep them off the field)
Turnovers/Takeaways (we win this battle we win the game)

Re: Key\'s to the Game.............

agreed, but I'll add to that that we're going to need a solid special teams performance. Nothing fancy, just a solid game with no big mistakes. I think the punters on both teams will get a work out, and I like out chances for field position game if we just get solid returns.

We must make our field goals!

I second that, these games are won or lost in the redzone, we must come away with points. I think if the special teams don't blow it we can win it. Also if we can run early then the play action will be there and our wideouts will win most (if not all) jump balls.

To be honest DJ Shockley worries me a bit, we all know that the Tenuta D is vulnerable to scrambling QB's, let's just hope he plays like last years game.

One more: Hit them in the mouth, rinse and repeat.

Turnovers ARE huge, but...

one of MY big keys is how well we play out of the gate! If we put in a solid first quarter and DON'T come out flat, we'll have a good chance I think. We've GOT to be focused and businesslike to have a chance. Of course, from there, play smart and limit mistakes.

BEAT THEM DAWGS!!!!!!!!!

Re: Key\'s to the Game.............

What John said, plus, key match-ups of: Scott vs Massaquoi, K-Mike/Landry vs Pope, and Hendo vs Inman.

Also, our first drive seems to always indicate whether or not Chan has the opposing D figured out. Conversly, when we don't do well early, we remain ineffective until 2nd half. This would put us in a deep hole Saturday. THWG

Re: Key\'s to the Game.............

Execution is the key in any drive you can't tell whether any coach has things figured on the first drive because more often than not a coach is calling a play because of what he see's, to set up one or to see how DC react to what is called. I believe it's more of how you adjust on O and D and sometime having them figured out dosen't mean you're going to win.You can call a great game and still lose.

If we can execute we can win.

Re: Key\'s to the Game.............

On defense - keep the blitz coming, but cover tight ends and backs well.

On offense - no turnovers, minimal penalties

Special teams - catch punts, make field goals

Crowd - go to the game, get loud, stay loud.

I am so tired of pictures of BDS filled with all red in the upper north, half red in the upper east, red in every corner, and red well sprinkled through the west. Eat a ticket before you sell it to a Dawg!

Re: Key\'s to the Game.............

Agree Buzzy, I know how it works. I'm just pointing out how it has ACTUALLY gone this year. Watch the 1st qtr closely. I'm betting we will know a lot after the first 15 minutes. Especially as far as individual LOS match-ups go since fatique isn't an issue...see AU & UM games. THWG

My key is simple.

Score first. We've done it in both of our big wins this season and set the tone for the game. It is going to require another defensive effort like Saturday and our offense will need to step it up another notch. While we did enough on offense to win last week, it wasn't the prettiest of stats and it could have been worse.

Finish the drill, fellas.

Re: My key is simple.

Agreed. No question!
What I liked about Miam-ah is that we held them first on D and then scored. Hell, I liked everything about Miam-ah.

Re: Key\'s to the Game.............

Got to agree with my fellow North Georgia center....

plus Arndt has to have a good game....

Many of these games have come down to who can punt the ball out of bounds inside the 20.

...and don't let the leghumpers block a punt like they did two years ago. That really gave them the momentum in the 2003 game, just like the VT game this year. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/nono.gif
