How did TB's kicking look yesterday? I know he hit a 40 yarder but did he miss any others?? Was his 40 yarder on the money or did it barely go through??

The one he made was well through and right down the pipe. He missed a long one though, it was straight as could be, but was well short. It hit the ground at like the back of the end-zone.

Do you remember exactly how long the one he missed was?

IIRC, the kick he missed was a 57 yd try. Straight, but at least 10 yds short.

He seemed to hit it funny... Kinda like a popup.

Well 57 yards is quite a long try, I don't blame him for missing that one. Good to see that he is making the mid range kicks, as they will be the most important in upcoming games.

What's worse, going for it on 4th and long (holding a huge lead) and not making it, or sending in our FG kicker to miss one that is clearly beyond his range and shaking his confidence?:(

It was 53. Line of scrimmage was the 36. Don't really remember where the ball hit, but i want to say right at or a little in front of the back line in the end zone.

The big thing here is that trying and missing that kick in this lopsided game, might help him to make that kick should he be faced with that same situation in a tight game later on.

Paramedic, I think that the more kicks TBell gets in game situations, the better off he'll be. I don't think this will affect his confidence at all. Not after learning from last year.

More to the point, it's an indication of where on the field Gailey should go for the 4th down conversion. Put your fingers on that play vs Samford, because we're going to see some playcalling adjustments in future games because of that miss. Doubtful we'll be attempting another FG from that distance unless there's no time left on the clock.

Yeah, cause everyone knows that whenever a kicker misses a long FG he goes straight into the dumper.

Please. Gailey wanted to see how he hit it in live action. A 53 yarder or whatever it was, is out of the range of most college kickers. Gailey now has a data point for future reference and TB does as well. Next time he'll be thinking that he has to hit it solid, not the way he did Sat.
