This is just a random thought/question on a slow day. Back in September, BYU lost at UCLA. Why in the world couldn't the bowl committee come up with an original matchup for this game? Other than in a conference championship game, there's no reason why teams should play each other twice in a year.

Can anyone remember the last time that two teams played each other twice in a year? (other than reg. season then conf. championship and F$U/Florida in '96)

My old team mate is Bruce Davis and his son is playing for UCLA, wow I can't believe that.

Just thought you would want to know.

Purdue vs. Central Michigan is also a rematch from September. I agree, I figure they would avoid rematches if at all possible.

Also John, can you believe Brad Roper's son Justin is a QB with the Oregon Ducks and played much of the game in their season finale against the Beavers passing for a couple TD's and running for one? Tempus Fugit!!!

No S***, I did not know that. Great for him. It's neat seeing these kids play from guys we went to school with or played ball with.

I agree. There seems like there should be some kind of component to avoid the rematch if at all possible.

I don't honestly have a problem with rematches. Bowl games exist to make money. If a rematch makes money, then the bowls will do it.
