Watching all those huge plays of blocking FGs to win games yesterday made me start thinking 'when has GT blocked a FG'. Does anybody remember? The last placekick blocked was Notre Dame's extra pt in the Gator Bowl. Kofi Smith, I believe. Heck that, in itself, is 4 yrs ago.
Ga blocks an important Tenn FG, Fla blocks a short Aub FG on last play to send game to OT, Tex blocks a short K St FG on last play to win game. The blocked kick is a live ball for the defense & huge plays can be made out of them. Does Tech teach anything to get to the kicker?
Most fans do not understand how many pts we're missing by not making plays on STs nor do they see how many pts we're giving up by NOT making plays on STs. The STs play (on average) every 4.5 plays in a game. That's a LOT of plays. The really good coaches VT, Okla, K St, Tex, etc, etc, understand how often their STs play & how important this area is.
