Did that look familiar?

The Wolverines had a very legitimate chance of winning the game before the Troy Smith out of bounds "helmet to helmet" call was made on 3rd and 15. Maybe Troy and Brady will get a few good laughs together.

Coincidence?.. I think not.

Hate to say it, but that was a good call. The defender knew Troy was heading out of bounds but still came flying in head-first. It was a stupid move - may have been what cost them the game.

It does not matter whether the defender thinks the qb is going out of bounds. My point is that the combination of QB pursuit near the sideline on a 3rd and long is a good way to keep a drive going.

Whatever, I think the two plays were very different in terms of the hits. Wheeler didn't lower his head IMO, Quinn lowered his into the path. The Michigan guy clearly lead with his head.

I think they need to call it as a spear. If the facemask is down, like today, then it is a "lead with the head." If the face mask is up, like PW, then it is a good tackle.

How do you swing a game on the subjective assessment of a defensive player's head position while trying to stop 2 Heisman caliber athletes? This is Troy Smith and Brady Quinn on the corner during a 3rd down play in a close game. It is an unfair advantage.

Michigan hit was far more blatant than the one against Wheeler. It's over and done with, we have two huge games coming up.

I disagree. Look at the tape again and you will see Wheeler, at the very last second, dip his chin to hit Quinn with more Gold than face mask.

Well, if we lose a game I burn the tape so can't watch again. Just going from memory, but it seemed to me that Wheeler would have hit him on the shoulder pad if Quinn hadn't lowered his head.
