My dad lives in Huntsville, and he said the latest rumor in his office is that Saban is currently on a plane with the Alabama AD headed back to Tuscaloosa...Again, only a rumor, so nothing to back it up...Just thought I would share :)

One source confirms your "rumor":

[FONT=Verdana,Arial, Helvetica]DAVIE -- The Nick Saban coaching era with the Dolphins has ended.

A source said Wednesday morning that Saban has agreed to become the new head coach at the University of Alabama, ending his two-year tenure with the Dolphins.

A source said Saban failed to show this morning for a scheduling meeting at team headquarters in Davie with Dolphins owner H. Wayne Huizenga. Saban told Huizenga of his intentions via telephone and then informed all of his coaches by speakerphone that he was leaving to accept the Alabama position, the source said.

It Must Be The Money......

It's not the money. He has a 5 year deal with the MD for 22 million. I think it probably is he wants back into the college atmosphere along with UA's contract is for 8 to 10 years. Security at it's finest.

'mover, do you think Saban can meet the expectations of the 'bammer people?

I have my doubts, but I don't really follow pro ball closely, so I can't really say....

It's a done deal.

Yes I think he can turn that program around now that he won't have any scholly sanctions on him.

Edit: If he can't he has 8 years of 4+ mill a year, not a bad deal.

Well it's also been reported on foxsports now as well.
I agree with the job security comment...however, it's not like he said "nah that it too much money,I just want the long term deal..." either way it is fair to say that it was a "good motivator" especially after he had said on numerous occassions that he wasn't interested in being their football coach...
per foxsports...
Saban bolts Dolphins, takes Alabama job

Posted: 2 minutes ago // front-end hack to remove postedTime from Rumors page until a better way can be determined if Nick Saban is no longer the head coach of the Miami Dolphins as he has just informed his assistants via conference call that he is leaving Miami for the Alabama job, team sources have told FOXSports.com.

Also, "Momma wanted out of South FLA!"

Being reported in Huntsville.... evidently, though Saban's kids certainly weren't going to a Miami ghetto school, Momma wanted out of that environment.

All else being equal, if Momma ain't happy, Coach Nick ain't gonna be happy.

I've heard that he likes recruiting and all the other stuff that goes with being a college coach.

Only thing that makes sense really. Miami paid more than even Bama's historic offer and, while most coaches bolt from the NFL because of the pressure to perform, Bama's probably worse than any NFL team out there.

He already has a verbal from a QB from FL, that is the best I have seen. his team beat Neasein the championship game and he was awesome. He needs to thank Shula for that one.

Wait, he received a verbal today after he announced his decision to go to Bama? Or was this guy already committed?

Pfft.

I just spit coke all over my screen.

That's, like, a joke right? Bama's the worst job security in all of football.

Guaranteed money sounds like security to me. Absolute worst case he can retire, coach at the local hs of his choice and live like a king (not that it will ever happen, once you're in the pros once theres always a place for you).

Let's see 32 million guaranteed. Let me state that again GUARANTEED!
