Lets see if we can learn from this.

realizing that we have only one more year to watch where Calvin Johnson lines up every offensive down, its fair to say that we won't be able to attract a stud qb because of Calvin.

Now that its the off season, save the Holiday field trip ("bowl" game) what is/are the most valuable moves Chan can make for '06 and the near future on the offensive side of the football?

From this idiot, they are:

1) Identify and hire the very best QB coach/offensive mind in the country. This hire should occur well before signing day, hopefully allowing for a signing of a prized qb and receiver.

2) Find for RB the position that will help us score points, and will reward him for the guts and determination he has showed for this team. He deserves to come out of Tech with one season at a position he is suited for. Its not QB.

3) Develop an offense that completely suits the skill players that we have. Personally, I am a great fan of power football, but I believe Ga. Tech will be able to win quickly, and will be able to consistently recruit the skill positions on a national level if we go wide open on offense.

Look at the polls this year. TCU, L'ville, Texas Tech, Fresno State. Even with Fresno's loss, all of these teams are ahead of Tech in the polls. All of these teams I believe also spread the field and throw it all over the place.
In my mind, these teams are newcomers to the near elite of college football. They have gotten there by realizing that scoring points is about a great offensive system and key skilled players that can provide very winnable matchup situations.

Tenuta is a great defensive mind and coach. He very definitely creates winnable matchups for his personnel. Thankfully, his unit kept scores low enough for Tech to win 7 games this year.
He loses quite a bit for next year, and we will have to be able to score Friedgenesque points in '06 to hope to match this year's wins.

This is Chan's most challenging winter at Tech. May he do well.
