This sounds like fun: Are any letterwinners here going to participate?

<<On Saturday, November 24, 2007, at 3:30 PM, we will play the University
of Georgia. All Letterwinners are encouraged to come out and support
our Yellow Jackets by participating in a Human Tunnel. Letterwinners
participating in the Human Tunnel will join the rest of the crowd by
showing support and welcoming our Team to Bobby Dodd Stadium At Historic
Grant Field. If you have already purchased your tickets, please RSVP
Lucius Sanford at lsanford@at.gtaa.gatech.edu
<mailto:lsanford@at.gtaa.gatech.edu> or call me at 404-894-8865 to
reserve your spot on the field. Let us help our Team get "PUMPED" to
Beat Georgia!! We can do it! Let's show our 100% support to our team.

They are expecting our support!!!

All participating Letterwinners are required to wear a nametag to enter
the field. Your nametag will be in Will Call for your pick-up. Once
you have picked up your nametag, you will enter the field from the West
Stands, Aisle 111. Please arrive 30 minutes before kickoff. Our
Letterwinner's Club is a unique alumni organization, which enables us to
reconnect and remain connected to Tech. >>

Lucious has been doing that for years. Turnout is always very light, maybe 20 letterwinners out there at most.
That's one area where GTAA could improve. Getting LWs more involved. They're trying, it's just not the machine found at other schools.

It is true that participation has been low for this event to the point that Lucius didn't do it last year (I think). I will be there. By the way, this is the first time that it's been done for the ga game.

there could be a reason for that

Yes, I was a letterwinner too as a student manager. I've never felt real warm and fuzzy about the letterwinner's situation at Tech. They want you to pay up and join the club but it doesn't seem like a real cohesive, strong group. I think the AA is lukewarm about the lettermans club, so participation is light. They have a meeting every month I believe, but its on Thursdays at 6pm so who can make that if you don't live near Atlanta and work near Tech for that matter.

Letterwinners scattered like other grads....

Much has been written about why GT Alumni are scattered to the four winds, but it holds true as well for the TechExes. One guy I played with in 1969 & 1970 is in Alaska, another in Columbus, Ohio, another in SF Bay area, another in Connecticut,.... that's not exactly conducive to attending games, let alone monthly meetings. And those are just a few, I could go on....

TechExes, like most families, are extremely vocal when together, but also tend to reflect the conservative, business approach to getting things done.

Most of us, especially those who witnessed the Bud Carson firing up close and personal - thank God there wasn't an internet then, but it was every bit as ugly, divisive, and vitriolic as Chan's dismissal (assuming he fails again vs CMR) will be - are loathe to drag or see Ma Tech dragged through the mud again.

And for those who think it's odd to dismiss even a moderately (.561 Winning Percentage) successful HC, look at what Ohio State did to Jim Tressel's predecessor John Cooper. He lost 5 of 6 to the same Lloyd Carr at archrival Michigan who today forced Carr to resign after losing 6 of 7 to Tressel! Such is the state of collegiate athletics today.

That said, we have another opportunity this week.

THWG!

You can beat your rival without winning the NC but you can't win the NC without beating your rival so focus on beating your rival and let the NC chips fall where they may.

If UGa fans had to chose between losing to Tech or LSU (assuming KY beats UT) I think they'd rather beat Tech. There's no glory in winning your conference when you can't even win your own state.
