My gosh Hiver, I can't believe we are rated behind Rutgers. You said Rutgers #30 and Tech #34. How the mighty have fallen! Wonder what could be the cause.

bye bye foggy

anyone wanting to talk football, please disallow an attempted hijack by a sad person.

Re: Lindy\'s: GT/UGA schedule comp...plus ACC OOC comp

Sad you bet I'm sad when Tech is 34 and a no name school from the big least like Rutgers is ranked 30. I made a comment on your rankings not mine read your post again CAREFULLY. You have Rutgers ranked at 30 Tech at 34. I know you read it from a noted football magazine. Tell me how many years has it been since Rutgers was ranked above Tech? I bet not even in my life time. Or in reality are you a Rutgers fan? My post was not about a coach or a bunch of coaches either here or at Rutgers but just the mighty have fallen! That's based on your post as I have not bought a football preview yet. If you don't want people to post about your giving ranking (per Lindy's) then don't post!

EDIT: Now if GTfan or whom ever wants to ban me for a comment on your ranking and it was about GT then I guess it is bye bye.

OF, to me preseason polls don't really mean alot, it's where your finish that counts--not where you start. By the way, Rutgers finished 17th in both the final AP and UP polls for the 1976 season (Rutgers was 11-0 and didn't play in a bowl). Tech was 4-6-1 in 1976.

FYI, hivered knows more about GT football/recruiting in his pinky finger than you do as a whole. The statement I quoted is just yet another lame buzzOFF diss attempt. You attack people here with no evidence or substance. You say I love Chan Gailey without backing it up. You accuse hivered of possibly being a Rutgers fan without backing it up. Please, for everyone's sake, stay on buzzOFF, where you and your giggle group companions can accuse us here of being obsessed with teenage boys because we follow recruiting.

Re: Fogee...

Upwith what ever, are you obsessed with BO? When you respond thats all you can talk about. I post here almost as often as I post there. My comment was pure and simple we are rated below a no name Big East team now if you can't understand that then I feel sorry for you. As for my remark about Hiver being a Rutgers fan my gosh little boy anyone with a right mind would have known that was tongue in cheek. But then again are you in a right mind? I think no! Oh yes almost forgot you spell it FOGGY.

Man, look @ FSU\'s schedule

FSU's sched looks like Florida's sched of the past 20 yrs, except for Gator's sched of 02 & 03, when FSU was the only even decent team on Fla's sched. This is easily the weakest Seminole schedule in 30 yrs!
With schedules like these there will be a slew of ACC teams availiable for the League's Bowl games. Ga Tech had better stay on the ball every yr or our Yellow Jackets will be left outta the bowl season.
With some good football from our young men, & that's an excellent possibility, maybe we'll do better than finish 34th & have Rutgers finish 30th. It is a shame that magazine writers feel this way in the preseason, so we'll just have to change their minds.

Re: Man, look @ FSU\'s schedule

Good point. I think FSU is feeling the pain of some tough years and wants some easy wins.

I also think NCState being rewarded for the weak schedule last year will do nothing but provide reason for their continued weak scheduling.

I have to hand it to UNC as they continue to schedule tough opponents anyway.

Re: Lindy\'s: GT/UGA schedule comp...plus ACC OOC comp

I'll be glad to tell you the cause for Rutgers ranking ahead of us. We took BC, Va Tech, and Miami off their schedule with conference expansion and they added the Bearcats, Cardinals and Bulls from CUSA.

With a good young coach and reasonable schedule Rutgers has quickly become a bowl team and a threat to be top 25. With a challenging non-conference schedule and a strong conference Tech is picked a little behind Rutgers.

The problem is not our talent. It is not our coaching. The new ACC and the new Big East just makes it a lot easier for Rutgers to crack the polls than it is for Georgia Tech.

Re: Lindy\'s: GT/UGA schedule comp...plus ACC OOC comp

So I'll say it again. Our hard schedule is about as intelligent as an Old Foggy comment. When are we going to figure it out that we can't reach primo status until we start scheduling like all the other top programs? If we won that one extra game a season, we'd be considered one of the Top Ten or Fifteen programs in the nation and have people begging to get tickets. But we just are not smart enough to figure it out.

Re: lmao...

It's nice to be loved every now and then.

Regarding the actual issue, it seems that Rad agrees with me that our schedule is overly ambitious.

Before joining the ACC, Bobby Bowden rode FSU to the very top of college football by ambitiously scheduling the best...they would play anyone anytime anywhere, and along the way became the very best program in college football for many years. To quote BB: "Ya gotta play the best to be the best".

On the other hand, you've got the program about 60 miles east of us who is currently riding a crest as one of the top programs in the country, but doing it with a much easier schedule than ours.

I'd prefer to be the best by playing the best, but on the other hand, I'll take a couple of extra wins a years and top twenty ranking with an easier schedule.

All bets are off should we lose to Troy or Stamford. Remember Furman? But things are different now.

Re: Lindy\'s: GT/UGA schedule comp...plus ACC OOC c

Bowden HAD to schedule tough out of conference teams at the time because all the other ACC teams in general were much weaker and to get national respect he had to schedule and beat tougher opponents. The quality of the ACC has risen since those days, and coincendently, the FSU program has declined at the same time because of it when compared to their glory days.

Re: Lindy\'s: GT/UGA schedule comp...plus ACC OOC c

Actually, Bowden started scaling back his schedule when they joined the ACC. As an independent their only option was to "play anybody, anywhere" to get some exposure, TV $$ and build a reputation while they were building a program. Once they were in the ACC they could start backing off on their OCC schedule since the conference championship and bowl tie-ins/TV schedule now guaranteed most of the $$ and exposure. They schedule pretty well IMO. A marquee game or two and some cream puffs. I think that's what Rad has in mind for Tech. ACC + ugag and maybe one good intersectional game, then fill in with home wins. Just like LSU.
