Just curious if any of you ex offensive linemen watched the line for Navy last night.

I can't help but wonder about future defenses that have to practice against the spread all the time and things like what kind of linemen will we recruit and can we fill out our class this year with recruits already in the pipeline (that and keeping guys like Gardner). Any new comments?

If we miss on linemen, we'll stink in one year.

PJ will be looking for OL that have speed and quickness. He doesn't want the 330 lb guy who can only get in the way of a defender. The tackles will have to be able to run a bit, as they will be required to block downfield and move laterally for plays like a WR screen that is in PJ's playbook. Look for more OL sizes to be in the 290 range for tackles and 300-310 range for guards. The center is a key proponent of the offense, since the FB dive is so key to it's success. PJ will want a smart kid at center, who is around 6'3" and 290-300 lbs. Quickness is a key for the center in this offense.

PJ's offense is based on speed. He will want the fastest guys he can get at every offensive position. He had a hard time getting those types of kids at Navy, but the O was still very effective. Imagine what it will do with the right personnel.

We have always recruited smaller, quicker OL under Gailey. I don't see this as a big adjustment, and I expect our current guys to already be in shape for this offense.

Execution, of course, is another matter.
