its getting harder and harder to discuss there.. you have to connect 10-15 one-post locked threads to even get the theme of the discussion... what a joke that place is now.

I can understand wanting to consolidate discussions of a single topic into a single thread, but the Hive's board software doesn't really support that.

It seems to happen naturally on ST and I suspect it's a feature of the board, namely the "View First Unread" function that makes it easy to manage following a multi-page thread.

Also, there's a lot less posters on here than the Hive. When you don't have a 100 people hit-and-run guys coming on to post their crap and leave, it makes it easier to manage.

That's a good point GTL. It's easier to see the most recent stuff here than it is on the Hive and since this loads so much faster it's also worth the time to read a thread before starting another. The Hive software is more difficult to work with and I think lends itself to just starting a new thread instead of looking around first.

As a mod of another board, I can definitively say I don't envy Crackerjacket and the rest of those guys. The Hive is not so much an internet community as it is a grad-central-station for one liners. Essentially, the old community has been polluted by the trend in sports message boards towards hit-and-run-ism.
