I'd love to see WreckEm or Pantone try to set this up. I think the honeycomb is a much under-used logo/symbol that we should capitalize on.

it's not a mini helmet (see how it covers the chair), they are wearing it sept 22nd according to rivals and cbs, whiteout vs. Bowling Green.

Maybe it's a mini chair for a mini person. Then again, you could both be right. Maybe it's a mini helmet and a mini chair for a mini football player. Just think how hard he'd be to spot in the backfield!

You are correct. Vespula germanica and Vespula maculifrons and the southern fella Vespula squamosa make hexagonal cells as do their cousins in the "paper wasp"(Polistinae) family also called Yellow Jackets.

The branding/graphics guy for GT did his homework and shut down flack from the 'combs are for bees' crowd.
The hexagonal comb pattern is now part of the graphic ensemble for our Yellow Jackets.


You will see the 'hex comb' in the new football lounge ceiling and screened on the glass. It is also in the background on corridor wall graphics in the football player areas in the Edge and in the wood ceiling of the football team meeting room. The pattern is also in the dugouts and team spaces at softball.

No, I don't think its planned for the ceiling of the silver tit.
 
In the practice pictures the shirts under the shoulder pads had it as well. The shirts looked a bit too long because they were being grabbed quite a bit by D players trying to make tackles.

This is Tech unis would look if they did honeycomb this year. This may be the template for this seasons unis, but I'm not sure
