That stuff is 10 better than the old artificial turf:

Its a far superior surface.

Re: Look, we\'re becoming Oregon!!

That new "fieldturf" may be 10 times better than the old artificial turf, it still isn't as good as real grass. When a player's cleats get stuck in it, it still won't give, and it will still cause ACL knee injuries. It doesn't matter how soft it is either. Besides, REAL MEN PLAY OUTDOORS ON GRASS.

<font size="2" face="Arial, Verdana, Sans-Serif">At the risk of sounding like Goldtimer, you are obviously undereducated on this topic. I've run on the FieldTurf surface at the U of Michigan's indoor football facility. Most of the Michigan Athletics personnel I spoke say their kids prefer it to natural grass.

It is a superior surface, period. You can run your fingers through the stuff. If you have been to Rose Bowl field, you would realize this stuff is just as good as grass and keeps up in poor weather conditions much better.

Take a look at the FieldTurf Web Site. Look at the list of NFL and NCAA teams installing this new surface. Almost 1/3 of the NFL plus 20 NCAA programs have switched to this surface. I don't think the NFL, with all of this million dollar investments, would allow this surface to get installed at their stadiums if it was a dangerous product.

The moral of the story is don't knock it till you have seen it and walked on it with your own two eyes. I was a naysayer at one time too, unti I experienced it up close and personal.

Re: Look, we\'re becoming Oregon!!

Coldbeer got in on the FieldTurf IPO.

I wanna stay with natural grass. Nothing against turf, but I like natural grass.

After reviewing all the NFL, college, and High Schools stadiums installing the stuff... I wish I owned some stock.

Just trying to clear up some misconceptions about the surface. It's a completely different surface than the old astro/artificial turf.
