this is highly regrettable. The one comfort was Roof was at least minding the fort until we got the DC now that will not be the case.

I know Roof gave his job and GT 100% and wish him the best.

I hope he is making the right decision b/c he had a home here and probably a bright future. Duke can be a harsh environment and if he had difficulty with our athletes then he is in for a really tough time with duke's.

I wish him well. But Duke is a graveyard for football. He must have just really wanted to remain as a DC. Maybe the demotion was something he couldn't stomach. I don't know. Bottom line: Dook is an absolute bottom-feeder for football and coaching there will be very difficult.

I have similar affections for Ted as he was one player who always gave it all on the field and was hard nosed. There was nothing about Ted's game not to like. But as a DC there seemed to always be something missing like failure to make game time adjustments. I really feel that this will work out to the benefit of both Tech and Ted.
Most of us were business execs. who supervised large numbers of people. Now if the board of directors brought in a new chairman and he offered
an exec. who was supervising 100 people a job at reduced pay and responsibilities that man couldn't hang around because he would be constantly humiliated before the very people he once had power over. This wouldn't work either and I was surprised when Ted initially accepted
the LB position. I hope Ted the best but I really feel that this is best for everyone.

GT to ND to Duke.

That's quite an arc.

I wish him well, but I think GOL may have promoted TR to coordinator a bit too early. There are better DCs for Tech, and I bet we have one coming.

I hate to see Ted leave... and hope he doesnt... but, I agree... I think GOL moved him in the DC position a little too early... or maybe its that GOL didnt know how to "coach" his staff...

Help -- could someone tell me the source of this story? Is there an article or link? So far, all I've seen are posts here and on the hive. Is there confirmation someone else; did I miss it?
Thanks.

it may not be official for a few days but it seems to be confirmed on both sides of the fence GT and duke

For the record, I apologize for the "I seen". I didn't mean to sound like a total hic!

Gbird,
I hope we are not raising the standards of the board. If we are my savannah public school education is not going to measure up. What I want to know is where the hell is the spell check on this board.

and I dont even want to tell you where I went to law school (ugag), so it is too late for me to get a good education. So please tolerate my boardspeak which includes misspellings and improper verb-tense

I hope TR does well at Duke. My only worry, for his sake, is that Franks will get canned in a couple of years and TR will be jobless. Of course, any assistant takes that chance at any job.
Anyway, Good luck Ted...except against Tech.

Did Ted let his pride get the best of him? He didn't make adjustments in the Clemson and Virginia games when he needed to. Looks like he panics and freezes up. The Clemson game is very important as its outcome always seems to dictate whether GT has a good year or a bad one. He deserved the demotion IMHO. The defense has been our archilles heel for years, and 3rd and long has been a nightmare.

Ummm..bye Ted! It was fun. My GT world is crumbling all around me. Change? I'm not use to change!

I lay a lot of the coaching problems (both off and def) at O'leary's feet. It just seemed the decisions reeked with his conservative mindset. O'leary making the comment "we have become too much of a finesse team". Stuff like that leads me to believe he was pulling more strings than originally let on.

But that being said we had to make a change and I wish TR well.
