Ok, so I'm watching the NC St game for the zillionth time and I notice that an NC State player is nominated for the Lou Groza award for the nation's best kicker.

So what I don't get is why a football award for a kicker is named after a GT basketball player from the late 1970s/early 1980s who actually scored a goal for the opposing team at one point. Not to mention, hocked a lugey at Ralph Sampson.

Not many placekickers who do double duty as an offensive lineman any more. Maybe Sebastian Janokowski should have given it a shot.
