I love that old deranged Homer. His speeches have given us some real gold comedy nuggets such as:

"I rather play UCLA than USC because its easier to spell" -USC vs Nebraska

"There's 100,000 people in that stadium but they're unarmed" -PSU vs Michigan

Did you know that Lou's hair gets sprayed with real gold dust before every show.

The USC vs. Nebraska speech really wasn't Lou Holtz. That was the producer from the 2 Live Stews radio show doing his impersonation of Lou. He also made one for Oregon vs. Michigan.
 
I heard a recording of one of his speeches in which he stated WTTE of "I know I'm not the most handsome guy around." As illustration, he recounted that he had his picture taken at Disney World during one of the bowl activities. A newspaper printed the picture with the caption "Holtz poses with Goofy and Pluto." They then added in parentheses, "(Holtz is in the middle)."

Not sure what you were listening to, but Lou did indeed do pep talks for those games and the quotes given were in his talks.
