OK probably TOO much has been made about our vaunted triple option attack and how we're the surprise cinderella story of the ACC. We all know we had a wonderfully surprising year capped off with a thrilling victory over the rivals we love to hate.

Now, focusing on this game with one of the most under performing teams in the SEC, we've got our hands full:

1/Big stout offensive line (probably better than UVA's)

2/Big stout RB in Scott (probably as good or better than Peerman from UVA)

3/Lots of time for them to prepare for our option attack.

4/An underrated defense packed with NFL prospects ready to prove their worth at the next level.

5/A mobile QB who could give our D fits

To me, this shapes up alot like the UNC or the UVA games. Granted we're much healthier now and our offensive line is much more adept at their blocking assignments, but LSU is a sleeping giant in a dome which will be PACKED with LSU fans (remember the CFA Bowl in 2000?) who will be "loaded" to roar.

I'm just saying we've got some MAJOR hurdles to overcome. Do I believe in Coach Johnson and our players? YES. This however will be a MAJOR test for our coach and our program.

Thoughts?
 
How does LSU compare to Gardner-Webb? Just kidding. Sort of. Maybe a little not-kidding for those who think CPJ is an Automagical Anti-Letdown Tonic.

That said, I think it'll be a competitive game -- and we'll score a win. A GW- or UNC-style relapse isn't out of the question, but I'd say we're beyond that. Given our end-of-season progress and all...
 
Yes, LSU is another threat/game. They DO NOT present more challenges than teams we beat and DO NOT present less challenges than teams that beat us or came close.

IMHO, we are at a place where what matters is how WE play, not the opponent.

#3 is not relevant until proven so. UGA had two weeks.
#5 Jefferson is a true freshman who started just one game: against Arkansas (#92 in rush defense, #54 in pass defense) He was 9 of 21, and also 50 yards rushing. Again, you fail, this is not a threat until proven.
 
We are playing last year's national champion. They looked great but faltered at the end of the year. Now they are getting rest and healthy. They've got a bruising running back. Its going to take a great team effort on both sides of the ball to win this game... and I believe we are going to do it. I hope it is in convincing fashion, but I'll take a W any way we can get it.

According to their own fans, their OL has played awful all season with the exception of that one guy whose name escapes me.

 2/Big stout RB in Scott (probably as good or better than Peerman from UVA)
He still doesn't scare me near as much as Dwyer would if I were an LSU fan!

Lots of time for us to prepare for their preparations.


4/An underrated defense packed with NFL prospects ready to prove their worth at the next level.
Both Miami and UGA were ranked higher vs the Run(before they played us) than LSU currently is. They also seem to have "tackling and discipline" problems(ala their fans) similar to Miami and UGA.


5/A mobile QB who could give our D fits
He is also a freshman recruited as a 3*. His stats over the last 2 games have been underwhelming. He averages 2.8ypc as a "mobile" QB, and a 41.1% comp as a passer.

Maybe just being a homer...but it shapes up more like the Miami/UGA games to me.

I was trying to be too concise.

To sum up, yes LSU presents challenges but challenges we have faced throughout the season. In most cases we won those games, but we did lose some.
 
Thanks all for quelling my fears somewhat. :bowdown:

I only presented these points to make me feel a bit better should we lose.

I fully expect we'll give a tremendous overall team effort and we'll emerge victorious thus capping a tremendous season...snapping a three or four game bowl losing streak and winning for the first time EVER in the Ga. Dome!

There is a lot of pride at stake in this game. Can we win? Yep. Should we win? Yep.

But if LSU puts together an A-game performance and we are a little off our game - a couple fumbles, an INT or two, a lucky special teams play by LSU (our kickoff/punt coverage is highly suspect) and we could be in for a close game or could get our butts handed to us.

There is a lot at stake in this game for us. I hope we come out with a serious, killer-instinct attitude and play four quarters of mistake-free football. Anything less and all bets are off.

That statement is the calling card of every delusional fan of every team.

Scan the FSU or UGA boards and you will find similar statements of why they "let" GT beat them. Only the performance of their own team mattered in whether they won or lost.

We should always give our opponents credit, rather than criticize our team when the opposition makes a great play. We believe perfection in the execution of a great play in football is to be admired and appreciated, just as we appreciate and admire the work of a great artist in any field.

Years from now look back and see the final STATEMENT this beginning tech DYNASTY made--Defeated the Defending NAT.L CHAMP. to punctuate their 10-3 season!! THAT will look pretty impressive.

Slight mod: Defeated the preseason #1 AND the defending national champions back to back.
