What are the chances this guy ends up wearing white and gold on saturdays?

slim to none...probably Florida bound

We got our #1 RB target...Charles Perkins. We may or may not take a true AB this year.

yep...and so would Perkins had he not committed back in February.

Is there ever more of an attraction to a school like Tech for a RB because of our offense? I'm sure we're going to start getting amazing kids after Dwyer gets a high first round draft pick, but meh...

Mack Brown.... OVERRATED. His vids are not impressive. He is for the star lovers. He has a track runners long stride and on the football field in translates into him getting tripped up easily on first contact. Go watch the vids. He falls down almost right after the first contact is made about 95% of the time.

No more than before really at this time. We have also had some good backs and are known in the high school coaching ranks as being RB friendly. Remember that very few RB's make the big splash they used to...particularly on the next level where teams like the Broncos showed that you just needed a serviceable running back behind a great line, great QB, and great, well-executed game plan.

We have historically used the feature back well...Eddie Lee Ivery (Packers), Robert Lavette (Cowboys), William Bell (Redskins), Dorsey Levens (Packers), Charlie Rogers (RB/WR- Seahawks), Joe Burns (Bills), Tony Hollings (Texans), PJ Daniels (Ravens), Tashard Choice (Cowboys)...now Jonathan Dwyer.

I will agree to some extent.

1) He is not a pure running back. He is a slot guy in my opinion that could do end-arounds, reverses, screens, etc.

2) He is not thick-hipped, thick-legged as I like a running back to show. I love the way Roddy Jones is built for intance....low to the ground...big thighs...quick feet. Roddy is a pure running back. We will not get to see him run much inside in our offense...but he runs as well between the tackles as on the edge.

3) He is not a five-star feature back guy. Mack Brown is a system player. So I would give him high 3-star for that reason. That being said, in the right system running the right kind of plays...he can put some points on the board...but he will not get a lot of yards after contact. he must have space.

Jake Skole is being recruited for a back and baseball. I'm sure many know his brother matt skole.

Mack Brown would have been strong a-back for us IF he was willing to block, and he'll be an excellent player in Florida's system if he can block effectively every once in a while.

Seems like an easy decision to me on his part. And as another poster mentioned, Perkins was the #1 RB on our board.

BTW, your first sentence makes no sense.

Just to be clear though...you're not happy with Perkins? Or Drummond? Or Allen? Or are you just clueless?

I do not think he is disrespecting our current kids at all.

Without a doubt, Dwyer was the most highly recruited pure RB to ever choose GT. There is no disputing that.

I think many people wonder how tough our first year under PJ might have been without someone of his talent back there.

As our entire offense becomes more comfortable with the system...most notably the QB and the OL...the BB will have it easier which will make the need for a 1st round draft pick running back less necessary.

However...it would be nice to have! I am not saying someone like Watson, Allen, Jones, Drummond, Perkins, Wright, Peeples, Paige, etc. etc. will not become a first round NFL back because we do not know (I have my guesses but I do not know)...but it was a question that many people have asked.
