Macon Tele not too impressed

Well yesterday was what it was, a 7-0 victory on the road against a pretty poor UNC team to win the Coastal Division. However, a UNC team that did play one of it's better defensive games yesterday.

That being said, and I'm certainly not happy with the offensive play yesterday, although I'm very happy to be 8-2 (6-1) and headed to Jax, GT is not the only team this year to struggle against an inferior opponent. It happens to the best of them, like #'s 1 & 2 in the polls.

Ohio St and Michigan righted their wrongs yesterday with impressive victories. Let's look for GT to do the same next week against a very poor Duke team that averages about 11 points a game.

Take care of business next week, hopefully by the half and rest guys like RB and others who are a bit banged up, and get ready to head between the hedges and take care of the Dawgs, who are suffering from a false sense of worth right now after benefitting from the worst QB performance of the year.

Just in case Ka Michael Hall decides to chime in on ST, I hope nobody blasts him for being so negative about yesterday!

Why should you feel the need to be negative? It's clear that the team and the coaches aren't happy with the performance so why do the fans need to tell them?

The team performed poorly yesterday. They know it, we all know. But it's better that it happened against a hapless UNC team than against UGAg or in the ACC-C game. I think we've seen enough of this team to know they'll rise to the occasion when they're in Athens and Jacksonville.

"Many of the overthrows were intended for James Johnson, who spent the afternoon in a constant state of openness."

That's just it. The fans are not telling them anything. When the team plays well, ST is an honest reflection of the performance. When the team plays poorly, ST should be an honest reflection of that performance too.
The negative thoughts that appear are from the fans that understand that wins and losses happen for reasons, and those fans would like to converse their opinions. That's all.

I thought this was a place to fully discuss the good and bad of Ga. Tech football.
Hopefully, no one really thinks this is supposed to be merely an arrangement of mostly middle aged male cheerleaders. Gross!

I don't have a problem with analysis of what happened - good or bad. I have a problem with - "we sucked yesterday, our season is now over: we'll get killed by UGAg and in the ACC-C game". You can't project how we'll play in the next game based on the previous game.

We have a very solid team this year that isn't perfect in any phase (Off, Def, ST) but we've made plays in all 3 areas to win games this year. It's not just the defense carrying us this year.

I think nearly everyone has a problem with the "we suck" posts. However, in order to honestly discuss yesterday's effort requires the plentiful use of negative comments. No way around it.

By the way, there is only one reason why we pitched a shutout yesterday. UNC is that bad. We put no pressure on the QB and the middle of the field was wide open. If #9 makes a simple catch in stride on their last posession, this place may have been shut down last night.

I've been in operations management for a long time and I learned a long time ago that if you want to improve you look at what's not working and get after it. To some people this looks like focusing on the negatives, but thats how you get better.

I don't think yesterday was a fluke. UNC was loading up with their backers in the gaps on the line to take away the run. They were pressing our receivers with the DB's, so the typical little 5-10 out patterns were not there so much. Nix saw this and tried to go deep numerous times but BR threw too soon on almost all these passes and they almost always sailed over everyone's head.

Those little underneath patterns behind the linebackers and in front of the safeties should have been there. No passes to the tight end that I recall and no quick slants.

We are headed for an embarrassing offensive shutdown (IMO) if we don't learn how to counterattack this strategy.

I agree on this point. I think everyone we will play has watched how effective NC St. was on some of their defensive schemes. I guaranty you we will see some of this the rest of the season.
Also, I would like to see some misdirection. Everyone knows that where Cox goes, there goes TC. NC was over pursuing badly and we did not adapt to their pressure.
