Was he wrong to tell Oliver to take the jacket off? The media is going nuts with it.

He for sure didn't like being told to take it off. Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't he decide to sit the rest of the season? If so, then why "act a fool" toward your head coach ? Immature if you ask me.

I agree 110%. I'm just scratching my head at the media pundits that dont.

How can a coach be wrong about something like this. Oliver is already counting his NFL money so thinks he's better than his team mates or his coach.

NFL teams should be wary of the "special" attention this player will need.
good call. Johnny Manziel anyone?

What are y’all talking about
Player is injured - did not play for several games including the game in question. Player is on sideline (not dressed for game) wearing heavy jacket. Team rules say No Jackets to be worn on sideline. Coach asks player to remove jacket. Player is triggered and other players have to restrain player from physically attacking coach.

Seems like a dumb rule but what do I know. I thought it was interesting that the head coach seemed to be bothered with it in the middle of a game.

I don't know anything about the rule and it seems dumb to me, too, but Houston won that game in a blowout, so its not like Applewhite was distracted from something more important.

More to the point, the most successful coaches are notorious for insisting that you can't build a great program without paying attention to the details. Honestly this seems like the kind of thing Nick Saban would fire an assistant for not catching.

Player was injured legitimately, but suspicions are that he’s now healthy and is sitting himself to prepare for the draft. Reportedly participated in pregame warmups (not dressed to play) and was running routes and jumping around.

That’s a tough one as a coach. You’ve got to respect the kid’s long term decision, but that shit would eat me up too. And I can see how it would boil over with the kid running around pregame and then breaking this weird jacket rule.

He thinks he’s better than the rest of his team. Didn’t anyone tell Major Applewhite that he’s an NFL player?

The guy announced he’s skipping his senior year in March. Then he didn’t play in games while apparently healthy. Not someone you want in your locker room.

Blown out of proportion, IMO. Players get pissed off at their coach all the time. It's a natural reaction to get mad when an authority figure puts you in your place. Oliver apologized the next day, just like he should have. Story over.

Also, did y'all not see his injury? I'm surprised he didn't tear a ligament. If he's not 100% I don't blame him at all for not playing.

Makes sense to me. That particular jacket is for players who aren’t going to sit out and go to the NFL early. It’s applewhite being spiteful.
