I was looking at some videos from last years class and wow i forgot how good his film was. He had a ton of long touchdown runs. Some he just used his speed to get to the outside and left the in the dust. Others he juked and just ran past. He isnt afraid of contact. For the a back spot he is a 5star. Amazing how good his film was.

Reminds me of noel devine. Small guy, but has a lot of quickness and agility.

Excatly who i was thinking. Marcus Wright had better stats in high. I wonder how Devine is a 5star and Wright is only a 3?

it might have something to so with the fact that Devine had been on people's radar for a long time, while Wright busted out big time with a monster Senior season.

Wright had a monster junior season as well.

But another big difference is that Devine did a lot of self-promotion. Deion Sanders was his guardian for a while and they sought the attention of all the major programs.

Wright was the exact opposite. Wright's Dad is a non-nonsense military guy and Wright committed early to a mid-major and then turned away all comers.

I had a couple of friends who are hard-core fans of other CFB programs watch the films of Devine and Wright side by side. They felt that Wright is every bit as good as Devine.

Deion Sanders wasn't actually the motivating force behind Noel Devine's "early & often" media exposure.

This kid came from an absolute trainwreck of a family life (both drug addict parents dead from AIDS) and was glommed onto every several months by more "concerned associates" who wanted to "help". It became a flat out mess.

He ended up moving in with a team-mates family after almost being shot in some street stupidity and fathered two kids by two girls while still in high school. It was the "associates", all hungry for a piece of the Noel pie that put out his internet highlights, which were viewed a gazillion times.

Sanders, who attended the same high school as Devine, began talking with him toward the start of his junior year, and ended up moving Devine down to his place in Texas (there was some type of legal custodial relationship established with Devine's grandmother), where he lasted a just about a week before succumbing to the siren song and incessant cellphone pleas from his "associates", various assorted babymamas and his high school coach becore returning to SW FL.

Deion took the situation in stride and guided him school-wise, away from FSU and Miami but toward West Virginia, for reasons of geographic isolation from the SW FL scene, the mandated academic aid and the system being run at that time, which was a good one for a small back, which he sure is.

I met and spoke at length with this kid when he was a freshman, to ascertain if he was a feasible recruit for us. He wasn't... nuff' said.

My point is that Deion wasn't the promoter, nor was Noel.... his "concerned associates" were, no doubt from the kindness of their unemployed little hearts.

Now back to Marcus Wright...:fingersx:

Wrights learning curve will be the willingness to throw his body in front of a LB with 80 lbs on him running full speed at the other A-back on the option.

THAT is the biggest challenge for the new a backs as well as current. Ball in hand isn't my concern.

I think Devine got the higher rating because of his balance, toughness, and vision. I am not knocking Wright because he is darn good back who should have at least been 4-star. But Devine's film was crazy. Some of those runs were flat out impossible.
