Being a Houston Texans season ticket holder, I was extremely disappointed they passed over Reggie for Mario Williams. Did anybody get to see him play against Jackets last couple years? Is he really the next coming of Julius Peppers or will he be the football equivalent of picking Sam Bowie over Michael Jordan?

all I remember about him was on something like 3rd and 1 he exploded off the ball and flat backed our RS SR Tackle and then made the play in the backfield. From an athletic standpoint he is as gifted as anyone. I would certainly expect a Peppers or Freeney type player, but ya really never know until he puts the pads on and lines up.

Living here in the Raleigh area I find the Williams pick surprising. He is all world when you are looking at size and speed. But, on the field he has great plays, but few great games. Seldom did I think he was a difference maker in a big Pack win. I think this #1 pick will be like the Falcons choice of Aundray Bruce years ago. Actually, Bruce had a better college career than Williams.

I never was too high on him -

Good player?? Sure.

A GREAT one, worthy of the #1 overall pick?? Not in my opinion....

Re: I never was too high on him -

Bush was the best player and should have been taken #1 IMO. Also I think Tennessee made a mistake taking Young over Leinart, Young is going to need alot more time to develope, IMO, than Leinart.

Re: I never was too high on him -

Leinart, IMHO, is going to be the bust of this group. He lacks big time arm strength and is unable to win games by himself. His passing attack was greatly dependant on having the best talent around him of any other quarterback in the country. I think Vince Young will be good, I'm thinking more McNabb than Vick, but until his throwing mechanics improve will not be able to lead his team to any sort of championship. Cutler will be the surprise in my opinion, and will turn out as the Best of the group(A poor man's Brett Favre).

But What Do I Know /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugher.gif

Re: I never was too high on him -

Young will only be good is he isn't expected to play for 2-3 years. The ESPN guys did a very good job this weekend of showing his mechanical problems and his inability to read defenses. He needs lots of time before he's ready.

Cutler may be okay, especially in a system like Denver's.

I think Leinhart will be fine. Arm strenght is a relative thing. He has the arm to make the throws necessary in the pros or it would have been obvious to scouts. He's also much more ready mentally to play in the pros. I'm not saying he will be an all-pro, but I think he'll have a good career.
