Anyone think that will make a big difference in our game? I shiver when thinking that Fridge has two weeks to prepare. Does this make anyone else a bit nervous?

Would love to know a stat on Fridge's record with two weeks to prepare.

No doubt Fridge is a good coach, especially an offensive coach; but, I have faith in our Defense against almost any offense, and the Maryland Defense just isn't what it used to be, and we should be able to mvoe the ball on them.

I think we'll make some mistakes this game, but we should be able to overcome them.

With our Defense I don't think they have a chance. I am sure Fridge with have something up his sleeve, but he doesn't have the player quality to carry it out.

Ralph had two weeks to prepare for his last two losses to us (2003 and 2004).

He is 5-4 in regular season games with 2 weeks to prepare, 4-2 in season openers, and 2-1 in bowl games.

Preparation

I think Ralph is better off using the extra week to fix his team, rather than worry about us the whole time.

I don't like the extra week unless you have injuries that need to heel. For some reason, players tend to forget what the game is like at full speed when they miss a Saturday (or Thursday).

I remember announcers always used to quote Steve Spurrier's record with 2 weeks to prepare with a sense of awe, because he was 16-5 when he had 2 weeks to prepare.

16-5 = 76%. Nevermind that Spurrier's overall record was 122-27-1 (82%).

If I'm not wrong - most of our opponents this year have an extra week to prepare for us.

In fairness to the announcers (who rarely deserve someone sticking up for them), off weeks usually come during the meat of the schedule, and not before the cupcakes that Steve has started a lot of seasons by playing. Cupcakes inflate that 82%.

Most of our opponents do have two weeks to prepare for us if you count Temple as an off week HaHa.

I considered that. Ignoring the non-conference games, Spurrier's record in the SEC was 82-12 (87%). All the bye weeks were prior to SEC games, so his record against SEC opponents was 16-5 (76%) with a bye week and 66-7 (90%) without a bye week.

It's true that a lot of the bye weeks were before UGAg and Tennessee, but quite a few were also prior to Kentucky, Ole Miss, and Mississippi State as well.

He would need to borrow some good players from someone to even have a chance as long as we show up with the right mind set parpared to play the game.

Doesn't make any difference imo. After seeing them play against WVU on Thursday night a few weeks ago, I have no doubt that we will kick their ass. The only reason they scored points in that game is because WVU's D sucks major ass. I think we will not only put up a lot of points, but our D will hold them to 10 or less. Hell Florida Atlantic's D held them to 14 points.

At least before Saturday's game, F_U was a mainstay on the ESPN Bottom 10, signifying both FAU and FIU. That certainly seems to suggest that Maryland has to be pretty freaking bad to only beat FIU 14-10.
