On offense, look for Fridge to run plays that counter act our aggressive LB's and defense. I don't see Maryland running all that much against us. In order for Fridge to establish a ground game I think his game plan will be centered around running draws and delayed counter plays (ala Wake) to see if they can catch us in the blitz and leaving part of the field un covered.

I don't see Maryland throwng too many high percentage passes to their WR. First, Hollenbach won't have the time in the pocket to drop back and do what he wants. So I see Fridge running screen plays to Lance Ball and Lattimore out of the backfield. Look for the split end to get hit on the quick slants over the middle.

Maryland's most dangerous weapon on offense as far as our defense is concerned is their TE, Haynos. At 6-8" 260 lbs this is their great equalizer. This guy is like an OT who can catch. He is their leading receiver and caught a ton of passes vs. WVU.

Unfortunately for Maryland, we are the one team that matches their TE very well because of the athleticism of our DE's Johnson and Robo.

On defense look for Maryland to focus on stopping the ground game and making Reggie Ball beat them with his arm. Fridge knows this is the only way Maryland has a chance. WVU ran silly over Maryland and Fridge knows this will be our focus. WVU had over 300 yards on the ground out of their almost 400 yards.

Maryland lets not forget is 3-1 with their only loss coming to the #5 Mountaineers. Sure they beat three nobodies in very unimpressive fashion. 14-10 over Fla International is damning.

That said, I watched the UM/WVU game and I can say this.. Maryland fought back through some serious adversity to put up some offensive numbers, so I expect if they could move the ball vs. WVU they can do so against us. They didn't quit, and I imagine with 2 weeks preparation they will be ready for this game. They will catch us off guard, and this game will be closer than most expect.

This game has upset written all over it. Hollenbach has been in the Fridge system awhile now and Fridge may be the best teacher of QB's in the college game today. That said, Maryland cannot match up against us for 4 quarters and Teunta eats QB's like Hollenback for lunch.

This team this year I think is a different team mentally than in past years. I think GT comes out prepared but with little emotion considering the opponent. Maryland will score some points and raise some eyebrows, but this is Tech's game to lose.

I think we win but this game will be close going into the middle of the 2nd half and then Tech separates itself.

Thanks for your insight BOR. I agree, I think the Twerps keep it close the first half, but then we break away in the second half.
