He may not be as accurate as Garrett, but at least he keeps posting some terrific info to keep us thinking. It really is fun to talk recruiting & all the ramifications that result from it. Thought ya'll might like to mull over MasterB's latest thread on the subject.

Thanks ACE! I'm open for questions/comments from that post here as well. I hope y'all enjoy it. The guessing in many places might end up being very off but I wanted to kind of give folks a picture of what it could look like in the end as far as position breakdown, etc. I have a feeling that my OL guesses will be the furthest off.

Not to stir up any wars, but I am glad Master B is not as accurate as Garrett. In my opinion, Master B is head and shoulders above Garrett as an assett to the two boards.

Totally agree. MasterB, you are a great source of knowledge not only for recruiting but providing good practice reports. Keep up the good work.

Also, I think MasterB is showing us all that recruiting isn't nearly as bad as some would like to believe.

Not directly related to recruiting but what is the latest word on Eddie Lee Ivery,Jr.? Will he be able to play next year, what position, any other prognostications?

goldeagle - ELI JR should be good to go next year. He has changed positions, as you suspected. He'll be at Corner next year. With Hester graduating, Houston should be next in line to start next season opposite JCox. After those two, there should be a wide open competition for backup and nickleback. ELI, I-Perfection, Davis & Gilliam will all be competing for those spots. If my guesses are close in the link, we should also bring in 2 or 3 freshmen to compete as well. That should be a great selling point that we have openings at nickle and for the 2-deep at the position.

Hey Master B, great analysis. I hope we get verbals from 2 guys named Avery real soon. (A LB and a S). My question is, do you know why we haven't offered a **** LB named Dana Graydon who is from the great state of GA.

Master B, help me with something. Do we offer 'ships to players who haven't made qualifying scores yet? Seems I saw something about Chan not offering until he meets the kid but several comments I have seen make it sound like their scores have to be in first as well. If true does this hurt us in your opinion?

1TechFan - Dana now has an offer from GT. I think we're looking very good with him. FSU will likely be our only competition, but he really seems to like what GT has to offer, IMO.

ncjacket - You are right, that seems to be the way we are approaching it. Obviously it hurts us with the players that haven't qualified, but I think in the long run it is a wise strategy. For instance, I love EJ Kuale as a linebacker but he only stayed in school for 1 year. Could we have been more selective in recruiting and taken another player that would still be with us? Maybe. Also, from what I've read, the players that this is effecting seem to understand it. I've read several updates that say we will move back up their lists if we offer (IOW, they make their scores). So, all in all, I like the strategy personally and we'll have to wait and see how successful it is down the road.

<font size="2" face="Arial, Verdana, Sans-Serif">The problem is that for every EJ Kuale, there are 5 others on the team with similar high school academic records that are contributing. I am sure that Duke's players have all qualified but sadly don't win a lot of football games.

Okay then goldmember, what would you honestly do in this case? Would you give out a bunch of offers to kids that haven't qualified? I think it's a bit of a stretch to suggest that we are going to recruit a Duke-like class because we're being careful about someone's teat scores. If they qualify and can help us win, they'll get an offer. If they can't qualify, we can't use them. I honestly don't see the big problem.

<font size="2" face="Arial, Verdana, Sans-Serif">I personally think we have to take some calculated risk like the previous staff did. Many of the kids don't quality until late in the process and we can't eliminate too much of the recruiting pool and be succesful.

MB, Any word on Calton Rice in Huntsville,AL ? He was at a Tech club meeting earlier and has had a great yr as a RB (but will prob play defense)

goldmember - fair enough. I'm not convinced though that telling them they will definitely get an offer IF they get passing scores really hurts our chances with the kids. I think they can easily understand that stance. Time will tell though if that has an effect. I think a good case to watch would be LB Jarvis Jackson of Washington High. His two teammates have offers from GT and they seemingly want to all go to the same school. I think that if he passes his next SAT then we offer and get him. But we'll just have to see how it plays out.

AlaGold - Rice in on campus this weekend. He is still w/o an offer, but still considers GT his favorite. He is definitely very high on GT. We'll just have to find room for him I guess.

Master B
I really appreciate your insights and updates of our recruiting. Please keep them coming.

Do any of you think we will hold some of the positions open for the five star players considering us?
