This would be a positive sign. An 8-4 record in the 4th yr to justify a new 5 yr contract. Gailey's never hit 8 so it would be a landmark. It would help the ACC look good in Bowl records & help GT's overall Bowl record. There's a lot to play for....
The Utah Utes have gained a little bit of a name over the past 4-5 yrs. A W over the Tribe would be a good W over a winning record. Our 'strength of schedule' would stay very high. Our BCS rating would stay very high. This game can help us a little bit.
The real scary part is if the coaches can't get the team up for the Bowl. The last trip to the Bay area was a big letdown & terribly humiliating for everyone associated with GT. The worst part of an L here is that Tech drops to 7-5 & just can't get to 8 Ws with Coach G. The same ole mediocre record. The 'boo birds' really come out. The family stays split.
8-4 has a much nicer ring to it. We gotta get this win , get over the hump, keep the improved feeling for our staff going, & start positive for next season. C'mon Yellow Jackets, sting em. C'mon Rambling Wrecks, root hard & help our players with getting up for the game!
