Is to go the route of college basketball .

Need a lawsuit to lower the nfl draft age.

The one and done needs to come to college football...

College basketball has seen a leveling playing field - due to the challenge of the blue bloods having to constantly reload every year - even though they've reloaded with 5 stars every year , this increases the likelihood of more misses, as puke and calipari have experienced. They've missed as often as they have hit.

Most would say one and done has had a negative effect on the quality of play in basketball.

That negative effect would be ten times worse in football.

Gonna be hard to do

The federal courts have already sided with the NFL & Their collective Bargaining Agreement as recently as the case of Maurice Clarett, maybe 20 yrs ago?

The Federal Courts have said , STTE of , when you have a collective Bargaining Agreement in place between an Employer (NFL) and a Labor Union (NFLPA), that as long as the barrier to obtain membership to that Union to play in that League is reasonable and fair, then they can continue to Collectively Bargain with each other, the courts specifically said that 3yrs removed from HS is a fair barrier to enter employment in the NFL and join their Union because it balances Labor's opportunity for employment while allowing the owners a chance to create the best business possible (a league with players that are ready to be Pros, play at a high level and be entertaining).

Colleges have no power in lowering the age to be admitted to the NFLPA.

There are no shortcuts for GT's cheapskate ways to prosper in this new Era of CFB, we have tons of high ranking Execs among our Alums, if we cared we would research companies with the budget to financially incentivize players to come to GT thru NIL deals.

Amazing that a network of hardware store owners, bait shop owners, used car lots, insurance agencies and other small businesses can create Networks of bagmen that allows Bama, uga, and Clemson to recruit the best players out there, but our Geniuses in corner Offices & Executive Suites are completely stymied?

College Basketball didn't do anything, the NBAPA allowed players to go to the NBA 1 yr removed from HS, and this has killed College MBB IMO, the NBAPA should adopt the same 3yr rule that the NFL and MLB has (with MLB once you enroll in a 4 yr college, you have to stay 3 yrs)

You have no idea how many times I read thru my posts and just break out in a giggle before I hit the post button

Good thoughts on Maurice Clarett... but that last sentence is ripe for mockery. "Possibly you have no idea how many times other posters read through your posts and just break out in a giggle before they hit the ignore button." You're all over ST these days.

Am I mostly wrong or am I mostly right?

As GT Alums that's all we usually care about.

When they giggle and hit the ignore button , is it because I'm wrong, or is it for other reasons?

Just trying to offer friendly advice man. Feel free to ignore me!

The rules are written for the handful of big boys. The rest, GaTech being very near the top, continues to agree with rules that destroy their own program.

secondly, where are the politicians whose job it is to protect and enhance public institutions within the state. Where is the outrage that “UGA is one of only four states with just one football program.”

Tech needs to go private, stop playing UGA or play it first in the season, and then try to rebuild a fan base without the obvious one sidedness of the politicians hampering us. Texas A&M did this and it worked!

The issue with this is that NFL teams can't benefit from a 185 lb 18 yr old. So they send them to the stock yards for a few years to fatten them up until it's time to harvest. They don't have to spend a dime on that.

Basketball is a little different, a 6' guard that can ball handle and drain the 3-ball, can be 160 or 215, it doesn't matter.

For instance, as good as Gibbs is, put his skinny 2020 ass on the other side of any NFL DBs and we'll see how long it lasts.

That’s what leveling the playing field means.

So the nfl would be force to start a development league. Your scrawny 18 year old would be drafted based on his talent, and spend a couple of years fattening up.

Yeah exactly, which is why it won't happen. Why would the NFL start paying for something it is currently getting for free?

If a player sues the NFL for not allowing him to make a living he would win. Then the NFL would be forced to allow 18 year olds to be eligible for the draft. They would be drafted for the sole reason of binding them to a team for when they are ready. They would still need development though, and would be ineligible for college ball.

It doesn't seem very likely to me but in this current legal system who knows?

Rivaling gtcompscientist for fastest burnout

Well for me the “one and done” ruined college basketball. The game was much better, in my opinion, when players were there 3-4 years. Teams were better, rivalries were better, the game was better. I don’t see this happening in college football, due primarily to what has already been covered in some of the posts in this thread.

That being said, the transfer portal and continued money gap between the top 20-25 teams is going to continue to change the game of college football, as has already happened in the last several years.

Why would he win when Maurice Clarett lost?

No way will this happen. No way will NFL GMs be drafting 18 year old kids to compete with grown ass men in the prime of their athletic lives. The kids would get crushed.

The NFL can continue to let college football serve as their de facto minor leagues.
